Job Title: Director of Operations – Sesame Seed Processing
Our client is a Canadian based leader in the Agricultural commodities trading and supply chain sector. Currently, they are expanding commodities operations into West Africa and planning a new sesame seed cleaning, dehulling and processing (tahini) facility in Nigeria. The Production Management Consultant will assist in the planning and execution of the project from start-up to commissioning and through to full production.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of production management experience in sesame seed processing, including tahini production, with knowledge of the latest applicable technologies.
The Challenges:
The successful candidate will have general operational and trading responsibilities, with involvement in the commissioning of the plant, procurement, sales, administration and operations of the project. The principal activities include the following:
Manage the design of the Facility in coordination with the company’s senior management
Assist in the selection of equipment and the asset procurement process
Oversee the execution of the construction of the Facility
Coordinate setup and implement operating procedures for all production activities, including selection of machinery, project design, manpower, etc.
Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing cost through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, material and capital
Manage spending against budget and control spending in relation to changes in production targets
Work autonomously with regards to strategic project management
Ensure all deadlines are met with the Facility built on time, at the planned cost and quality standard
Ongoing consulting for expansions and improvements at the Facility on a project basis
Desired Skills and Experience
Ideal Experience Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operations preferred
10 years’ experience building and running a sesame processing facility
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships
This position can consult from abroad, but needs to have the flexibility to travel to the site as may be required
