Job description

Team Leader required for Mobilising for Development (M4D) Programme (previously M4M) – DFID Initiative in Nigeria

An opportunity has arisen to manage the Mobilising for Development (M4D) programme in Nigeria. M4D is a local governance development programme and is in the second year of operation (started in June 2012 and will run until June 2018). With an overall budget of £18 million, the programme is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and has recently been awarded a performance rating of ‘A’ it is annual review for the year to March 2014.

GRM Futures Group is seeking applications from development professionals with the capacity and determination required to assume the Team Leader role on the DFID M4D project based in Nigeria.

The project aims to provide effective demand and supply side governance reform to three Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Northern Nigeria – Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa – and will accompany these LGAs into the post-2015 period. The project expects to improve local government service delivery by enhancing citizens’ ability to demand better services at the local level (with a focus on excluded groups such as adolescent girls and people with disabilities) and enhancing local government responsiveness and increasing responsiveness, transparency and accountability.

Desired Skills and Experience

Eligibility Criteria:

    Minimum 10 years of senior management experience including donor funded international development projects. DFID/client facing roles an advantage
    Strong technical track record in governance, institutional capacity development, voice and accountability
    Demonstrable commitment to social inclusion – particularly in relation to gender equality and people with disabilities
    Excellent leadership, communication, management and organizational skills
    Experience working in Northern Nigeria and/or conflict afflicted/fragile states an advantage
    Open to national and international candidates
