premixes to the Nigerian Food, Beverage, Animal Health and Livestock Industries in Nigeria and other ECOWAS countries. The company was established in 1991 and currently employs 49 people.

Job description

PURPOSE

    The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operating activities, including planning, directing and overseeing all aspects of operations.
    Transitioning of the current Managing Director.
    The COO assists the CEO in the aggressive and successful growth of the company.

Key Performance Areas:

    Provide day-to-day leadership and management to the organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company.
    The COO will also work closely with the CEO in developing quarterly budgets for the board.
    He/she will drive all expansion programs of the company.
    Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives.
    Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company.
    Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
    Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.
    Motivate and lead a high performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the executive team not currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
    Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
    Direct company operations to meet budget and other financial goals.
    Direct short-term and long-range planning and budget development to support strategic business goals.
    Establish the performance goals, allocate resources, and assess policies for senior management.
    Demonstrate successful execution of business strategies for company products and services.
    Direct and participate in acquisition and growth activities to support overall business objectives and plans.
    Participate in capital market development, including participation in road shows, bank meetings, analyst meetings, and more.
    Develop, establish, and direct execution of operating policies to support overall company policies and objectives.
    Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
    Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

    Bachelors’ degree, preferably in Science is required. An MBA would be an added advantage.  
    15 years of well-rounded experience in managing operations of a  plant/factory.
    5 – 7 years of leadership experience as Head of Operations/Production in a manufacturing environment
    Experience in the Nigerian Food/Beverage/Pharmaceuticals distribution is highly desirable.
    Requires advanced verbal and written communications skills in English, in addition to effective interpersonal skills. Knowledge of local language will be a definite advantage.
    Must be able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management.
    Thoroughly enjoys solving problems on the shop-floor and has performed close to the work that needs to be done.
    Requires strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
