This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity.

Hope Builders International is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that was established in 2009 to build leaders, strengthen lives and sharpen the skills of young people. Our vision is “Building Healthy Resources Youths for Needy communities”. Our mission is “To improve the living condition of the poor and the needy within the society by building hope in individuals, one person at a time”. Basically, we train young people for job creation. I have developed an entrepreneurial education curriculum that emphasizes Internalized leadership, self discovery and life planning. Other features of the curriculum include business plan development; coaching; mentorship, community service; linkages to market and finances and exposure to networks and opportunities. I partner with higher institutions of learning, Community and religious leaders, state and local governments and other non governmental organizations with objectives similar to ours in reach out to young people. I also developed a curriculum for younger kids in the secondary school. We are now working to establish enterprise clubs in the secondary schools so as to introduce younger kids to entrepreneurship. In the last three years I have trained over 6000 young people on job creation in northern Nigeria. Out of this number, over 200 enterprises have been established even though the majority of them are still in the schools pursuing their degrees. We have a monthly session for those that have established their own small enterprises. We also organize sessions for those who want to learn a trade or a skill. Our general aim is to stamp out poverty in Nigeria, Africa as a whole by the year 2030.

Job Description

I am looking for a professional writer, a storyteller. One that can write compelling stories about our work. Someone who can create narratives about what we have done in the past, what we are doing now, and what we want to do in the future. One that can paint clear pictures of the future that we have in mind for the nations. Someone that can write compelling narratives that can hold our readers attention and convey the message without confusing any reader. We need a writer that can paint our picture and present appeals to donors. One that can produce annual reports and forward grant applications. I have reports of all my work but at times I feel they are not organized enough for presentation to anybody. I am committed to learning with my staff and supporting them to succeed in any job they are given.

Desired Skills and Experience

    Excellent writing and communication expertise in English language
    A display of relevant experience in similar organizations (not-for-profit)
    Familiarity with narrative writing and storytelling
