Job Title: Relationship Manager – Financial Institutions (Nigeria)

Job description
Develop and maintain existing FI relationships, solicit acceptable new FI, NBFI & Corporate relationships, by originating, structuring, participating and syndicating large project/trade/working capital FINANCING transactions to achieve pre-set financial / non-financial objectives in line with Mashreq’s procedures / policies to satisfy client needs and achieve business targets.
Introduce MB as a player in the development and participation of the emerging opportunities in treasury, INVESTMENT banking and Islamic banking.
Develop business / improve sales related to the assigned countries / clients.
Meet / exceed revenue targets
Identify clients’ needs and expectations by analyzing and providing information and keep close contact with the important stake holders, decision makers besides maintaining frequent telephone contact, to increase business and get feedback for relationship management and service enhancements.
Identify opportunities for Mashreq and align these with Mashreq’s capabilities and policies.
Coordinate with other departments / units in the branch and bank network to set service delivery standards and ensure quality service to the clients and resolution of clients’ operational problems.
Develop strategies and business plan in consultation with Senior Relationship Manager / Country Manager / FI Sales / Head of Corporate – IBG at HO to set and meet the branch’s business and financial targets and be responsible for them
Review the existing portfolio in a timely manner and recommend appropriate credit facilities in line with the bank’s credit policy to maximize earnings while containing risks to an acceptable level.
Obtain audited financial statements, analyze them and recommend credit proposals of potential borrowers to the approving authority to meet financial objectives.
Implement and maintain complete control aspects i.e. documentation, periodical client visits / call reports, stock inspections and formal credit checks / informal market feedback to monitor the assigned portfolio effectively.
Undergo an annual credit review process on the assigned portfolio to achieve a satisfactory rating on asset portfolio quality and credit management process.
Develop on the job learning curve of RO/SRO to enable them to grow professionally and prepare them for higher levels of responsibility.
Monitor market trends and recommend proper pricing in consultation with Senior RM and other stakeholders, and in accordance with the guidelines.
Ensure that transactions booked are in compliance with all local laws and regulations as well as overall policy and guidelines of the bank.
Participate in developing, setting up and enhancing capabilities, systems and procedure of the booking unit / branch for FI, NBFI and corporate business.
Ensure that KYC of customers is completed in a comprehensive manner.
Provide necessary inputs / timely and accurate financial information and others wherever required and participate in preparation of ICR and CPs.
Desired Skills and Experience
Detailed knowledge of economy, market conditions, and regulatory environment in assigned countries and on regional / global basis.
Practical knowledge of products in trade and payment services.
Minimum 8 years banking experience including correspondent banking & Corporate Banking experience.
Knowledge of bank credit policies procedure.
Strong inter-personal skills and communication skills.
Understanding of Mashreq’s services and capabilities.
