The American University of Nigeria (AUN) was established in 2003. The institution was conceived as Africa’s first Development University. The University offers an American – style education modelled after the curriculum of American universities with corresponding approaches to teaching and students assessment. Title: Operations Manager, Food and Beverages

Department: AUN Hotel

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Operations Manager is charged with the responsibility of supervising food and beverage/culinary daily operations in line with international best practices. The duties shall include but not limited to ensuring guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget of the department in line with established policies and procedures of the AUN Hotel.

Position Requirements:

A BA in hospitality management or a similar discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum of five (5) years’s experience in a similar position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to organize work efficiently and work effectively under pressure.
Ability to lead, motivate and monitor a team to achieve set goals and targets.
Giving full attention to what other people are saying.
Service orientation – actively looking for ways to serve people.
Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures.
Proficient in ICT skills, including MS Office, Internet and e-mail, and other relevant applications and systems as used by AUN.
Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
Neat appearance, good personal grooming and positive personality.

Title: Executive Chef

Department: AUN Club

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for all food production including that used for restaurants, banquet functions and other outlets. Develop menus, food purchase specifications and recipes.  Supervise staff. Develop and monitor food and labor budget for the hotel. Maintain highest professional food quality and sanitation standards in accordance with the established standards and procedures.

Position Requirements:

A degree or HND in food technology or similar discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum of 4 years experience in that position.
Team player and leadership skills.
Good spoken English and cheerful personality.
Good knowledge of continental cuisines.
Giving full attention to what other people are saying.
Service Orientation — actively looking for ways to serve people.
Neat appearance, good personal grooming and positive personality.

Other requirements, abilities for the position:

Energetic, dynamic personality
Ability to perform consistently under pressure and to work cooperatively with others.
Ability to represent the Club in a professional manner
