Federal University Gusau – The position of the University Librarian of the Federal University Gusau is vacant. The Governing Council has, therefore decided to commence the process for the appointment of this position to fill the vacancy below:

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Zamfara

The Job

  • The University Librarian is a member of university management and responsible to the Vice Chancellor and the Council for the day-to-day administration and control of the University Library.

The University Librarian is responsible for:

  • Framing library policies
  • Making personal contacts and liaising with Departments on book requirements
  • Preparing library budgets
  • Establishing policy for library exchange
  • Engaging in matters of common interest for the benefit of readers and users
  • Performing other duties that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates for the position of University Librarian, should possess:

  • A minimum of Higher Degree of Master’s in Library and Information Science with Fifteen (15) years of experience.
  • Possession of a Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates are also required to have scholarly publications in reputable journals and must be members of the following:
    • Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria
    • Nigeria Library Association
    • Committee of University Librarians
    • Furthermore, candidates are expected to be a computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable to the running of a complex modern University Library

The Person
The candidate must:

  • Good leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational/administration skills that will command the respect and loyalty of the library staff.
  • Possess personal integrity
  • Should not be older than 65 years by 1st August, 2016.
  • Must be of good physical and mental health

Condition of Service
The condition of service and salaries are as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria, and as may be determined by the University Governing Council. The appointment is for a period of five years.

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Zamfara

The Job

  • The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice Chancellor and Council for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
  • In their capacity, the Bursar shall be competent to advise on the financial policies, disbursement of hinds, the preparation and presentation of annual budget.
  • Planning. control and periodic evaluation of University accounts and treasury services, including investment of funds, etc.
  • The Bursar is also expected to carry out other duties as may he assigned from time to time by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must:

  • Possess a good honors degree in Accounting or related disciplines from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Possess a professionally recognized accounting qualifications(i.e. ACCA, ACMA, ICAN, ANAN).
  • Have had at least 15 years post qualification cognate working experience in a university or other tertiary institution.
  • Be competent in relevant computer/ICT operating systems.
  • Possession of relevant higher degrees or postgraduate professional qualifications in the appropriate fields will he an added advantage.

The Person
The candidate must:

  • Have exhibited in the past, considerable ability, competence, industry and moral integrity;
  • Be free from financial embarrassment.
  • Enjoy good physical and mental health.
  • Have met the normal waiting period for the promotion to Deputy Bursar.

Condition of Service
The Bursar shall hold office for a period of five years. The remuneration and conditions of service and salaries are as obtainable in the Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may he determined by the University Governing Council.





Job Title: Director of Physical Planning Works and Maintenance

Location: Zamfara

The Job

  • The Director of Physical Planning Works and Maintenance shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of Physical Planning Works and Maintenance Department.
  • He/She shall be responsible for all works, services and maintenance of University facilities, and implementation of the master plan.
  • He/she is also expected to carry out other duties as may be assigned from lime to time by regulatory agencies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates are required to have at least a good University degree in either Architecture, Quantity/Land Surveying, Town Planning, Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, Estate Management etc., from a reputable, recognized tertiary educational institution.
  • Applicant for the position of Director, Physical Planning Works and Maintenance must have at least 15 years post qualification cognate working experience in a University or other tertiary educational institutions.
  • Possession of relevant higher degrees or postgraduate professional qualifications in the appropriate field is an added advantage.
  • Candidates should possess relevant professional qualifications and a full membership of ARCON, NIQS, NITP, MNSE, COREN, COBOL, NISV etc.

The Person

  • Candidates should reach a minimum post of managerial level in his/her current post in public or its equivalent in the private sector.
  • A basic knowledge of the Nigerian Universities System and project management methods with basic knowledge in computer/ICT operating systems will he an added advantage.
  • The candidate should not he older than 65 years by 1st August, 2016 and must be of good physical and mental health.

Condition of Service
The conditions of service and salaries are as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by the University Governing Council. The appointment is for a period of five years as stipulated in the University Laws and Regulations.
