ITF to Train 37,000 Youths on Industrial Skills

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has said that 37, 000 young Nigerians would benefit from the National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP) aimed at job creation, youth and women empowerment and industrialization of the nation’s economy.

The Director-General of the Fund, Mr. Dickson Onuoha, revealed that potential trainees from 18 states selected for the first batch have started their registration and orientation as part of the 5th phase of the NISDP

Onuoha said non-traditional economic sectors like solid minerals, agriculture, manufacturing and services would be given priority to help the governnent and private sectors create endless opportunities for the country’s economic sustainability, particularly for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The ITF said 1,000 youths from each state of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would be selected for the training.

The DG said the inability of SMEs to focus on conversion from raw materials to finished goods and inability to turn ideas into services were all due to capacity, which is being addressed by the federal government.

He said access to quality skills development and training opportunities would guarantee industrialisation and sustainable job creation in the country.
