Federal University Otuoke Recruitment for Non Academic Staff


The Federal University Otuoke (fuotuoke.edu.ng) is one of the nine universities established by the Federal Government on February, 2011, with a mandate to increase access to University education in all the States of the Country, promote quality tertiary education and have a focus on regional issues in education and research. 

It is located in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area in Bayelsa State. It commenced academic activities in October 2012, offering courses in the Arts, Social Sciences, Life and Physical sciences, Management Sciences and Faculty of Engineering and Technology

Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant academic and non-academic staff job positions at  The Federal University Otuoke below:

Job Title: University Librarian

  • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and head of the University’s Library, and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extension and for providing services for the entire University community.

Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post must: 

  • Posses a Master’s degree in Library Science and possession of a Ph.D. Library Science will be added advantage;
  • Have evidence of scholarly publications related to Library/Information Science in reputable journals and books;
  • Have a minimum of (15) years cognate experience;
  • Have spent five (5) years as a Deputy Librarian or its equivalent in a Tertiary Institution;
  • Be a member of Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) as well as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA);
  • Not be more than Sixty (60) years on assumption of duty; and
  • Be ICT compliant.

The Candidate 

  • The candidate must possess sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publication in reputable peer reviewed outlets both within and outside the country. The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years.
  • Above all, the candidate must possess good managerial skills and competencies including a clear understanding of the nature and dynamics of the intricacies in deploying information technologies as tools for the management of information collections in line with global best practices in contemporary university libraries.

Job Title: Director of Health Services
Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post must: 

  • Posses MB.BS with Fifteen (15) years of post-registration experience;
  • Specialist/fellow consultant with Eight years post qualification experience;
  • Not be more than Sixty (60) years on assumption of duty; and
  • Be computer literate.

The Candidate 

  • The Candidate should be abreast with current developments in tropical medicine and the management of health problems of young adults.
  • The candidate should be aware of the workings of NHIS

Job Title: Director of Physical Planning/Works & Services

  • The Director of Physical Planning /Works and Services is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the physical development of the University is responsible for the co-ordination and supervision of physical development projects ensures quality and standard of structures in the University through proper advice and liaison with relevant bodies involved in the construction of all structures of the university and ensures proper preparation of tender documents for the University.

Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post must: 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Technology or any other related discipline and possession of a Master’s degree in any relevant discipline will be of added advantage;
  • Must have Fifteen (15) years cognate experience, in a University system, or another relevant institution;
  • Have attained the rank of a Deputy director or its equivalent in a University system or similar institution;
  • Be a registered and current member of a relevant professional body such as ARCON, COREN, QSRBN, CORBON etc.;
  • Not be below the rank of Deputy Director;
  • Also be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications; and
  • Not be more than Sixty (60) years on assumption of duty.

The Candidate 

  • The Director must be a person of high integrity and be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University; must be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them into new projects in line with the phase development plans of the University.

Job Title: Chief Security Officer
Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post must: 

  • A honours degree or HND with specialized training in the police/armed forces and other related services with Twelve (12) years cognate experience.
  • A certificate in specialized security training and or a possession of a Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
  • Superintendent of Police or equivalent ranks in the Armed Forces with Eighteen (18) year’s experience.

The Candidate 

  • The candidate should not be more than Fifty-four (54) years of age on assumption of duty.
  • He /She should be able to conduct drills and should show evidence of good communication skills and crisis management.

Job Title: University Registrar

  • The Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible for the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administrative work of the University.
  • The Registrar is also Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post must: 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline with at least second class lower division from a recognized university and possession of Master’s degree in any relevant discipline will be an added advantage;
  • Be a member of relevant professional bodies such as ANUPA, NIM or CIA;
  • Have at least 15 years cognate experience in University administration/any other tertiary Institution
  • Have spent a minimum of Five (5) years as deputy registrar in a University or any other Tertiary Institutions;
  • Have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University;
  • Be competent at all times to advise the Vice-Chancellor on all matters affecting the policy and administration of the University;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students and other members of the University community and stakeholders;
  • Have excellent written and spoken communication skills and likely to command respect of members of staff, students and University community;
  • Be in a position to ensure the enforcement of the University Laws and Regulations;
  • Be ICT compliant; and
  • Not be more than Sixty (60) years of age on assumption of duty

The Candidate 

  • The Candidate must show verifiable evidence of consummate management and leadership positions.
  • The candidate must have held high administrative offices in an institution of Higher Learning.
  • He must be in good health.
  • In addition, the candidate should possess excellent communication skills and inter-personal relations and be ready to work in a team. The Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years.
