IITA seeks suitable Nigerian for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan:


Job Title: Security Guard
Ref.: IITA-HR-NRS2017-001
Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities

  • Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
  • Protect the forest fauna and flora (provide 24 hours security cover for the forest);
  • Prevent hunters incursion into the forest and raise alarm to the presence of hunters on campus;
  • Apprehend poachers/violators where possible;
  • Report unauthorized entry into the protected areas;
  • Promptly report fire incidents to the Security Control Unit;
  • Serve as part of the campus environs crime intelligence gathering network;
  • Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor;

Qualification

  • O’Level with a minimum of two (2) years experience performing similar role.

Competencies
Ideal Candidate must: 

  • Be physically fit, bold and fearless.
  • Have good communication skill.
  • Be able to ride motorcycle and operate security communications.
  • Have good knowledge of IITA and its environment


Job Title: Executive Assistant 
Ref.: IITA-HR-NRS2016-055
Location: Ibadan
Recruitment Type: (1-year renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties: 
Administration: 

  • Provide administrative backstopping to Nigeria-based projects (ACGG and others) and offices and financial support to ILRI Ibadan staff (both Nationally and Internationally Recruited Staff);
  • Prepare letters, memo, visa requests and letters of invitation for staff and visitors;
  • Assist in preparing short term request for the unit;
  • Manage secretariat (receiving visitors, providing orientation for new staff, receiving and making telephone calls, organizing filing systems for the office, and providing secretarial support);
  • Maintain personnel files for all ILRI Ibadan employees;
  • Liaise with IITA on administrative issues concerning ILRI Ibadan staff;
  • Handle requests from ILRI Headquarters regarding administrative and financial issues;
  • Liaise with ILRI Headquarters on all legal and human resource dimensions;
  • Assist in planning, organizing and coordinating logistics for project meetings, workshops, field trips and other events in the Programme;

Logistic Management: 

  • Assist in making travel arrangements – travel authorization, air tickets, accommodation etc;
  • Coordinate vehicle management and administration (filling of log books by drivers, repairs, insurance etc.);
  • Manage facilities and consumables and organise preventive maintenance for all ILRI assets in coordination with IITA;
  • Ensure proper identification of all ILRI assets, and update asset register regularly;
  • Participate in organizing workshops and conferences;

Financial Management: 

  • Compile, check and analyse ILRI Accounts Statements from IITA, Ibadan, Nigeria
  • Monitor projects budget (ACGG and others) and prepare project financial reports;
  • Process, check and monitor various documents related to advances, payments, expense claims for ILRI staff, visitors and collaborators;
  • Handle petty cash (receiving request, making payment, keeping register, submit replenishment request as necessary);
  • Liaise with IITA Finance for monthly financial report for ILRI Ibadan office and ensure timely submission to ILRI Headquarters;
  • Assist in procurements and perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification 

  • HND/B.Sc in Banking & Finance, Secretarial Studies, Business Administration or any related field with Eight (8) years’ experience in a multidisciplinary working environment.

Job Title: Driver II
Ref.: IITA-HR-NRS2017-002
Location: Abuja
Recruitment Type: (2 years renewable contract)
Responsibilities
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties: 

  • Be conversant with Nigerian roads and knowledge of West African borders;
  • Drive Aflasafe aTTC team in Abuja for marketing and other activities;
  • Convey personnel and Aflasafe product within and outside Abuja;
  • Assist with loading of Aflasafe for delivery within and outside Abuja;
  • Record trip details in vehicle logbook;
  • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance checks;
  • Carry out vehicle cleaning and ensure adequate kitting (tools, medical box, and accessories);
  • Carry out administrative duties while not on official trip;
  • Perform any other function as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications 

  • O’level plus valid driver’s license (Class E) with at least Five (5) years relevant experience with an international research institute.

Competencies
Ideal Candidate must: 

  • Be able to drive long distance with good eye sight.
  • Be mentally alert and physically fit.
  • Be able to work under pressure and be ready to work on weekends when necessary.
  • Be able to speak more than one Nigeria language.
