We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 
Job Title: Midwife/ Mobile Health Clinic
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Under the direct supervision of: MHC Team Leader/ Nurse
General objective
 

  • Under the direct supervision of the MHC Team Leader/ Nurse, the Midwife provides MNCH/ SRH care services, including ANC, PNC, Basic Emergency Obstretic and Neonatal Care, family planning, etc.
  • S/he follows PUI obstretical and Sexual Reproductive Health protocols and universal standards to ensure quality and continuity of care.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Welcome patients to the MNHC/ SRH services in the MHC.
  • Assess urgency and make sure urgent cases are seen first.
  • Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and their relatives.
  • Provide Antenatal and Postnatal care services.
  • Evaluate the pregnant women for high risks pregnancy and ensure a timely referral to secondary health services.
  • Provide individual and group health education to patients concerning safe motherhood, care of the new born, IYCF (Infant and Young child feeding), Family Planning and general Sexual Health.
  • Document collected information on health cards and other records.
  • Support in various data collection.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Universal standards, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ensure coordination and continuity of care through verbal and written reports and coordination with MHC Team Leader/ Nurse and other MHC staff.
  • Ensure operation of equipment, and report to SRH team leader in case of damage or not functioning.
  • Participate actively in meetings and training when required.
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by supervisors.
  • Provide Basic Obtsretical and Neonatal care, including assistance to urgent normal deliveries, manage obstetric emergencies.
  • Identify cases needing referral and refer them in time, assessment and follow-up of new borne.
  • Ensure mothers receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card…).
  • Provide Family planning counseling as a routine and on request (where possible to the couple) and provide contraceptives according to the need.
  • Treat sick Pregnant and Lactating Women for a illnesses selected by PUI, and for which a protocol is provided and adhere to therapeutic standards.
  • Manage sexual transmitted infections according to PUI protocols.
  • Identify Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and collaborate with the medical team for treatment.

Mandatory Requirements
Language Skills: 

  • Good command in English (speaking, reading & writing)
  • Fluent in local languages – Hausa and Kanuri.

Work experience: 

  • 2-3 years experience in Midwifery, especially in MHC setting
  • Work experience with other NGO’s would be an asset.

Education Level: Recognized Midwife degree (at least certificate level) with national legislation

Job Title: Nurse/Mobile Health Clinic
Location:
 Maiduguri, Borno
Under the direct supervision of: Deputy PM MHCs
General Objective 

  • Under the direct supervision of the Deputy PM MHCs, the Nurse provides patients management in collaboration with Midwife and other team members in MHC team.
  • S/he folows PUI protocols and standards to ensure quality and continuity of care, promotion and restoration of health of the patients and population.
  • When designated, the Nurse will act as MHC Team Leader in h/her partculat MHC team.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Organize and supervise MHC Team.
  • Welcome patients to the MHC.
  • Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and their relatives.
  • Assess urgency and make sure urgent cases are seen first.
  • Assess and identify patients health needs.
  • In the role of Clincian, mange the cases under h/her line of technical expertise, but also provide nursing care according to the need of the patient.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Universal standards, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ensure coordination and continuity of care through verbal and written reports and coordination with the other health staff.
  • The Nurse will work in MHC team, but might be asked to support health team where needed & replace other positions where appropiate (nurses in other departments, registrar, dispenser) when absent.
  • Supervise registrars, health promoter, drug dispenser and the driver; and ensure the follow-up of protocols.
  • Participate actively in meetings and trainings when required.
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by supervisors.
  • Adhere to h/hert level of herapeutic standards.
  • Give first aid when needed.
  • Provide low-key psychological support/Basic Psychological First Aid to patients according to need.
  • Provide individual and group health education to patients, when appropriate.
  • Document collected information on health cards and other records.
  • Support in various data collection.

Required Skills
Mandatory requirements:

  • Language Skills: Fluent in English (speaking, reading & writing)
  • Fluent in local languages – Hausa and Kanuri.
  • Education Level: Recognized Nurse Degree (at least certificate level), with
  • national legislation
  • Work experience: The 2-3 years experience in Nursing, and MHC/ MHU setting

Job Title: Registrar/ Mobile Health Clinic
Location: Maiduguri
Under the direct supervision of: MHC Team Leader/ Nurse
Aptitude test date: March 17th 2017.
General Objective 

  • Under the direct supervision of the MHC Team Leader/ Nurse, as well as under supervsion of Midwive, the Registrar prepares patients for his/her consultation and regsisters the patientes according to PUI protocols.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Welcome patients to the MHC.
  • Inform patients about MHC function and process.
  • Ensure the availability of a comfortable waiting area for them and their relatives.
  • Manage situation in waiting area and ensure a good patient flow.
  • Keep record of daily attendance, exits (cured, admission, death or transfer).
  • Work together with the other members of MHC Team where relevant.
  • Report daily to the MHC Team Leader about daily/weekly admissions.
  • Request timely for new registration books, health cards or forms.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain cleanliness of environment, equipment and materials.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings when required.
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by supervisors.
  • Bring any patient with an obviously serious medical problem to the attention of the Nurse or Midwife.
  • Identify patients and register their administrative details in available registration books and health cards.

Required Skills
Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Language Skills: Fluent in Hausa and Kanuri
  • Basic English language skills (speaking/reading/writing).
  • Education Level: Secondary School education
  • Work experience: Sufficient experience in registration or work in a Health
  • Organisation/ Health Facility is desirable
  • Work experience with other NGO’s would be an asset.

Job Title: Drug Dispenser/Mobile Health Clinic (MHCs)
Location:
 Maiduguri
Under the direct supervision of: MHC Team Leader/ Nurse
Overall Mission
 

  • The association leads in average 140 projects by year in the following sectors of intervention: food security, health, nutrition, construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures, water, sanitation, hygiene and economic recovery. PUI is providing assistance to around 4 million people in 22 countries in Africa, Asia, Middle East, Caucasus and Europe.
  • PUI is implementing humanitarian activities in Nigeria since April 2016, supporting population with food security, nutrition and health project in Maiduguri and Borno State. PUI is now looking for its medical health team to implement mobile health clinic in Maiduguri.

General Objectives 

  • Under the direct supervision of the Nurse in MHCs, the Drug Dispenser dispenses drugs to patients, gives indication on drug utilization, and monitors drug consumption, according to PUI procedures.
  • S/he respects logistic and pharmacy procedures, fills in weekly orders and does inventory controls.

Drugs dispensing: 

  • Receive pescriptions from Clinician/ Nurse and Midwife, and verify that required information is on the form, and dispense it to the patient.
  • Notify the Nurse or Midwife of incomplete or inaccurate prescriptions; as unclear handwriting, missing dose, etc.
  • Check if the patient understands the given instructions.
  • Prepare clear and detailed labels for dispensed drugs written in language that patients can understand.
  • Adhere to PUI practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to controlled drugs.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Dispense the medication to patients.
  • Give clear instructions how to take the drug, when, how long, how to store.
  • Advise and educate patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines.

Drugs Management: 

  • Store drugs according to PUI standards and protocols.
  • Record and compile daily and weekly consumption form and send information to pharmacist.
  • Submit drug order to pharmacy on a requested basis.
  • Receive the orders from Pharmacy and inspect items, as to quality, quantity, and expiry dates. Provide the Pharmacy with feedback in case of irregularity.
  • Notify Pharmacist in a timely manner in case of a high consumption that may lead to low stock or stock out.
  • Ask advice from Pharmacist in case a drug is prescribed which is not available.
  • Together with Pharmacist assistant and /or MHC Team Leader conduct inventory control of dispensary on a regular basis;
  • Follow all safety measures and rules in the dispensary.
  • Notify the pharmacist assistant / MHC Team Leader immediately about any change in drugs, in form of appearance, colour, smell, etc.
  • Collect and file patients’ prescriptions.
  • Arrange stock by designation and in alphabetical order, with the earliest expiring stock at the front of the shelf and the first in first out techniques.
  • Monitor the supply quantity, expiration dates and quality of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Maintain accurate dispensing records and report weekly to the Pharmacist.
  • Apply specific hygiene protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dispensary and equipment.

Other: 

  • Participate in meetings and trainings when required;
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by supervisors

Required Skills 

  • Language Skills: Fluent in local languages – Hausa and Kanuri.
  • Acceptable knowledge of English (speaking, reading & writing)
  • Work experience: Desirable at least 1-2 years of experience in a health facility or work with
  • MHUs/ MHCs
  • Work experience with other NGO’s would be an asset.
  • Education Level: Secondary school, with skills in mathematics
  • A health background is desirable
