Job Title: Lead Account Payable

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • To ensure the recording and reporting of the company operating expenditure and associated obligations and liabilities are fairly stated, controlled and reconciled in compliance with applicable group policies, international accounting standards, and IFRS.

Duties and Responsibilities
1.) Accuracy in recognition of the Company’s Liability:

  • Ensure all services rendered by vendors are completely accrued for through proper review of vendor statements and invoices without purchase orders
  • Ensure that all transactions are consummated in line with the OPCO policies and periodic compliance with relevant accounting guidelines as issued by the corporate officer

2.) Accuracy in the posting of expense lines:

  • Ensure that expense lines are indicative of the services booked and are correctly reflected in the ERP application
  • Ensure payments are posted accurately and on time

3.) Vendor Payments:

  • Ensure vendor payments are booked appropriately and processed based on agreed payment terms in line with agreed SLAs on procure-to-pay
  • Ensure all FX payments are consummated in line with the provision of CBN FX guidelines with zero tolerance for deviations

4.) Reconciliation & Reporting:

  • Ensure categorization to assist in the proper monitoring of all reconciliations on a periodic basis
  • Timely resolution of all reconciliation issues
  • Ensure timely and accurate rendition of report for both OPCO and the corporate office

5.) Policy and procedure formulation for the accounts payable department and ensure adherence

6.) Team Management:

  • Ensure team member motivation and promote employee work-life balance

Educational Qualification

  • University degree in Accounting or any related discipline
  • Chartered Accountant – ACCA/ACA
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office tools and accounting packages i.e. Oracle ERP
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and analytical
  • Spontaneous and logical

Relevant Skill and Experience:

  • 10 -12 years inclusive of 4 years in a managerial role
