Hygiene Promotion Officer
Location: Borno
Qualifications
Essential:
  • Education in Water, Sanitation and hygiene, sociology, anthropology, or a related subject, or equivalent field experience
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of English, Hausa, Kanuri and other local languages;
  • Ability to write clear reports;
  • Good knowledge of participatory approaches for behavior change (PHAST/SARAR, CHAST, CLTS)
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • At least 2 to 3 years experiences in hygiene promotion
  • Previous experience of working in community based WASH programs;
  • Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability in a WASH context;
  • Experience of organizing and conducting training and meetings;
Responsibilities
  • Develop Hygiene promotion tools adapted to local context;
  • Participate in WASH assessments and data collections;
  • Organize and conduct meetings and training for Community Based Organization/groups and volunteers involved in WASH activities;
  • Oversee distribution of Hygiene and IPC material/kits;
  • Monitoring and supervision of WASH activities;
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports of WASH activities and compile the reports submitted by volunteers;
  • Support community mobilization and other programs of SCI
  • Organize and implement hygiene promotion activities through community participation;
  • Establish action plan for hygiene promotion and monitor progress in collaboration with hygiene promotors and community volunteers;
  • Any other tasks assigned by line manager to achieve the objectives of position.
