Job Title: BSFP Distribution Assistant
Location: Yobe
Job Description
- The BSFP (Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program) Distribution Assistants will be responsible for the implementation of WFP funded BSFP interventions in Bade and Geidam focusing on IDPs and vulnerable host communities.
- They will ensure distribution and comprehensive mobilisation of the community for nutrition screening of children under five and beneficiary training on IYCF.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the BSFP Officers and in collaboration with the Project Manager and other collaborators of the projects and of the Base, they will:
- Conduct sensitizations, providing key messages related to the programme objectives, organization of distributions, the use of the products and other messages related to IYCF.
- Screening of the nutritional status of children under five in their designated locations and refer SAM cases to health/CMAM centres.
- Supervising the Community Mobilisers and volunteers.
- Coordinate and collaborate with community mobilisers in implementing follow-up of referred SAM cases to OTPs and stabilization centers.
- Distribution of supplementary food to children under 5 years and PLW (pregnant and lactating women).
- Fill in the BSFP register at distribution point, ensuring quality of data to be sent to the M&E Unit for further analysis.
- Collect and track weekly data at community level, including the results of MUAC screening during house-to-house visits.
- Submit weekly/daily nutrition, health and distribution reports to the BSFP Officers for onward sharing with the Nutrition Officer and the Project Manager.
- Provide training on nutrition (IYCF) and hygiene practices.
- Report any problems in a timely manner to the BSFP Officers or the Project Manager.
- Participate in the field work of the nutrition survey (impact assessment).

- The Field officer will be responsible for the implementation of WFP funded General Food Distribution in Geidam focusing on IDPs and vulnerable host communities.
- They will ensure distribution, monitoring and mobilisation of the community to encourage their participation in the distribution activities.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator and in collaboration with the Project Manager and other collaborators of the projects and of the Base, they will:
- Conduct sensitizations, providing key messages related to the programme objectives, organization of distributions, targeting and eligibility criteria.
- Coordinate with local authorities and community leaders to support the registration, verification and distribution process.
- Supervise the Distribution Assistants and volunteers in support of the distribution process and in charge of crowd control.
- Coordinate the registration of beneficiaries as needed.
- Be in charge of the organization of the distribution points, ensuring that they respond to protection criteria.
- Be in charge of stock management and reporting, by sending daily distribution reports and monthly distribution reports to the Field Coordinator.
- Ensure that verification, crowd control, stock management and reporting are conducted with transparency and accountability.
- Ensure that the complaints and feedback functions and that beneficiaries are informed about their right to file complaints.
- Report any problems in a timely manner to the Field Officers or the Project Manager.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities as required.
