Job Title: Senior Child Health and Immunisation Adviser

Location: Lagos and Jigawa

Role Purpose

  • The Child Health Advisor provides overall leadership and oversight for the programmatic, technical and research aspects of the programme.
  • S/he will oversees the day-to-day implementation of the programme and will be accountable for the quality of interventions and for the capacity building of health workers at state and LGA level.
  • S/he will be also responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality technical assistance by in-country and UK based technical advisers and external consultants (if appropriate).
  • S/he will support the State Programme Manager to ensure that planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as donor reporting functions are executed efficiently and effectively so that the project achieves its purposes and outputs.

Programme Quality:

  • Establish necessary community infrastructure to support the implementation of the child health activities;
  • Support the government in the MNCH weeks and other important child health events;
  • Strengthening relevant health systems for effective delivery of the pneumonia related interventions;
  • Actively contribute to the process of learning, evaluation, capturing and disseminating lessons from the programme for continuous improvement of programme performance and overall outcome;
  • Work closely with the programme team to ensure that other technical sectors are coordinated, integrated and support each other to optimise the project purposes and objectives;
  • Prepare quality quarterly and annual reports and timely submission of deliverables.

Capacity Building:

  • Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children health staff and partners and work as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff;
  • Build capacity of health workers and other sector staff to implement quality programs.

Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:

  • Represent the programme on all technical working groups, partners and stakeholders’ forums;
  • Create partnerships with Ministries of Health and other relevant organizations, WHO, and UNICEF to maximize program impact and harmonize agendas;

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health required; a health professional with clinical training skills (pre-service and/or service clinical training) preferred;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience implementing and delivering technical assistance to maternal, newborn and child health programs in developing country settings;
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development and management child survival and strong experience in PHC and ICCM program design and implementation required; must have experience facilitating clinical training;
  • Ability to lead and produce project proposals, implementation plans, monitoring frameworks, and write succinct reports on program success; excellent writing and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to travel 35-40% of time.

Job Title: Social and Behavioural Change Communication and Nutrition Coordinator

Locations: Lagos and Jigawa

Role Purpose

  • The SBCC and Nutrition Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of COP/DCOP in the successful implementation of the Project at the State level
  • Overall, the SBCC and Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of nutrition related interventions and to liaise with the relevant Government counterparts at the State level.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Supported by the SNA, develop the SBCC strategy that feed into the projects’ objectives.
  • Responsible for planning of SBCC and nutrition interventions, this will be done in the form of annual, monthly and/or weekly work plans as requested.
  • Ensure the day-to-day implementation of the SBCC/nutrition work plan activities in the State.
  • Responsible for preparation, planning and facilitation of SBBC and nutrition related trainings and other activities such as World Breastfeeding week as agreed in the annual work-plan.
  • Responsible for the accomplishment of the project’s deliverables on SBCC and nutrition.
  • Develop timely, quality State level reports on activities, project results, case studies and lessons learned for SBCC and nutrition interventions within the project.
  • Support the preparation, coordination, and execution for special technical events, and donor’s visits.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, debriefings and other technical meetings.

Job Title: Child Protection Project Manager

Location: Monguno, Borno
Duration: 6 months
Position Start Date: Middle of April 2018

Main Responsibilities

  • He/She is in charge of the implementation and supervision of the Child Protection project in Monguno (Kukawa & Kross Kawa) Borno State, Nigeria. He/she contributes to the development of a CP project strategy at country level together with the Protection Coordinator, the Child Protection Expert at HQ, and the Country Representative;
  • He/she works in close coordination with governmental and non-governmental agencies, with the cluster system to develop, monitor and orientate the CP project
  • He/she is expected to participate in child protection assessments, programme design and implementation at proposal and strategy level, as well as support on fundraising, recruitment and procurement, liaising and linking with other sectors in general
  • He/she oversees the monitoring & evaluation of child protection activities
  • He/she follows Country Representative strategy to work with all relevant authorities at district and community level (civil, religious, police and all other services) for a better implementation, acceptance and ownership in improving the conditions to protect children
  • He/she will conduct his or her duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes and the Tdh Child Protection Policy. Tdh expects that its contractors’ professional conduct reflect proper behaviour in accordance with local culture and traditions

Fonction Details
Line Management and Human Resources Management:

  • He/She Is in charge of the CP team recruitment and of the development and revision of job descriptions
  • Ensure the whole team has a clear understanding of the Tdh CP mandate and project through an initial induction meeting followed by regular weekly and ad-hoc get-together with relevant staff;
  • Lead and manage staff, encouraging effective team work and providing supervision and guidance, including regular and constructive feedback

  • Capacity to establish a referral pathway for severe cases under supervision of the Child Protection Coordinator and the CPiE Expert at HQ
  • Project Strategy and planning Under the supervision of the Country Representative participate in designing strategies and objectives for improved support to beneficiaries and contribute actively in its monitoring, evaluation and revision
  • Participate in CP assessments and contribute to other assessment design and implementation if required
  • Participate in the review of the strategy for Tdh in Nigeria if requested

Coordination and Representation:

Capacity Building:

  • Ensure quality intervention through initial and refresher training on child protection in emergencies, psychosocial support and case management to CP dedicated staffers, including community volounteers. Continued coaching and mentoring of staff shall be guaranteed throughout the project’s duration;
  • According to project’s activities be in charge of designing and delivering capacity building training and workshops to target beneficiaries, including health workers, implementing partners and institutions;
  • Coordinate with other Tdh sectors to ensure child protection is mainstreamed into health and wash/hiygiene sectors;
  • Work in close collaboration and consultation with available government structures, non-government actors, cluster system and community representatives
  • Coordinate with other departments (programme and support) as per needs.

Security:
