The RA International School (RAIS) is located in Nigeria LNG Residential Area Bonny Island, which houses both the school staff and families working for NLNG. The school runs a broad-based curriculum, following the English Curriculum for Mathematics, Literacy and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for other subjects with local (Nigerian) content included. 


We are seeking to recruit experienced, exceptional and internationally- minded individuals with ability to manage multi-cultural teams, using an inclusive multi-disciplinary approach. The position below is vacant:


Job Title: Class Teacher

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers

Job Objectives

  • To plan and deliver teaching and learning using the International Primary Curriculum and English Curriculum for Maths and English and create a conducive learning environment within the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a class.
  • Develop and teach balanced learning in all subjects as specified in the curricula involving factual background material, materials on current events and other appropriate activities.
  • Teach any other assigned subjects to encourage pupils to develop skills and altitudes, draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make value judgments based on scientific methods of inquiry.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupils’ behaviour needed to provide an orderly, and productive (learning focused) environment.
  • Keep and update appropriate class records.
  • Establish good relationship and communicate with parents and school coordinators on pupils’ progress, providing regular feedback on the development of the children.
  • Assess children’s learning, record and report to parents. Use assessment as a means of improving learning.
  • Assist with organising extra-curricular activities and in developing the school’s curriculum and other programs to enhance learning.
  • Identify pupils’ needs, and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems, to ensure all children reach their potential.

Job Requirements/Person Specifications
Education:

  • B.Ed. or B.A/B.Sc (PGDE / PGCE) in any discipline and minimum of 2nd class honours lower division.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching in a primary school setting, ideally an international school.
  • Experience in teaching the International Primary Curriculum/National Curriculum of England is an added advantage.
  • Should be a person with high integrity and excellent character.
  • Not more than 45 years old by May 31st, 2018.



Job Title: French Language Teacher

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers


Job Objectives

  • To plan and deliver quality teaching and learning in French for ages 3 – 11, based on School Curriculum (International Primary Curriculum) whilst maintaining a conducive learning environment withing the classroom.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage a class.
  • Develop and deliver French lessons based on approved school curricula involving factual background material, materials on current events and other appropriate activities and also support other activities that promote learning within and outside the school.

Experience:

  • Should have minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching French in a primary school setting (ideally from EY to Year 6)
  • Experience in an international school is an added advantage.
  • Excellent skills in classroom management.

Job Title: Speech and Language Teacher

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers

Job Objectives

  • To identify children with Speech, Language and Communication delays / disorders and to provide support for these needs, thus ensuring that all children in RAIS School reach their full potentials.
  • To offer training to service users including: parents; teachers; LSAs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify communication delays/disorders through formal and/or informal assessment to enable appropriate intervention. Reliably interpret the results from assessment findings. Devise, deliver and review relevant and appropriate therapeutic programmes.
  • Deliver the4-apy in a number of settings: individual, group and classroom.
  • Write and maintain confidential client case notes; reports and therapy summaries to the recognised standards of the Soil’s regulating body i.e. Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Manage the case load effectively to allow optimum therapeutic time for each child i.e. prioritizing needs, developing care aims, managing a waiting list, discharging when appropriate, thus ensuring sufficient progress for all children.
  • Attend relevant IEP meetings and other related meetings, and actively contribute to the partnership work that arises to ensure best outcome for pupils.
  • Liaise with and train parents, teachers and other relevant adults in the knowledge and skills required to promote and improve the communication of pupils on the case load.
  • Actively maintain and develop up-to-date knowledge and skills in the field of Speech and Language Therapy to meet Continuing Professional Development requirements.
  • Support parents in developing awareness of additional needs within the Residential Area.

Job Requirements/Person Specifications
Education:

  • A University Degree in any discipline at a minimum of 2nd Class Lower.
  • Recognized degree (Bachelors or Masters) in Speech and Language Therapy with eligibility to join regulating body, for example The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Willingness and motivation to maintain a high level of Continuing Professional Development and, develop specialist skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Speech & Language Therapist working with children (ages 3-12), ideally in a school setting.
  • Experience in carrying out both formal and informal assessments, and using the outcomes to inform therapy and in developing care plans.
  • Should be a person with high integrity and excellent character.
  • Not more than 45 years old by May 31st, 2018.

Job Title: Deputy Head, Non-Academics (DHN)

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers


Job Objectives

  • To lead the school’s administrative function, and support the school and its leadership teams in the attainment of the school’s vision and mission.

Duties & Responsibilities
Lead, Coordinate and Supervise:

  • Develop and implement Policies, Procedures and Employee Conditions of Service.
  • Resourcing, Performance Management, Employee Services, Training, Employee Relations and all HR related services.
  • Facility Operations, Maintenance and all HSE related activities.
  • Planning, Budgeting, Finance Management and Reporting.
  • Management of logistics requirement through operation of effective contracting and procurement system.
  • Administration of Contracts arid Service Level Agreement operationalisation.
  • Corporate performance tracking, monitoring and reporting.

Job Requirements/Person Specifications
Education:

  • A University Degree in any discipline at a minimum of 2nd Class Lower.
  • Possession of a relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 12 years experience in Academics or Administration, out of which at least 5 years should have been spent in a School Management and Administrative position of an International School.
  • Experience in managing a multi-functional team is essential.
  • Skills in Budgeting, Financial and Human Resource Management.
  • Should be a person with high integrity and excellent character.
  • Must be computer literate and have good skills in MS Office. Knowledge of school management software will be an advantage.

Job Title: Head of School (HoS)

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers

Job Objectives

  • Provide strategic leadership by successfully developing and improving the school whilst ensuring professionalism to maintain high quality education for all pupils.
  • Provide strategic focus/direction for both the academic and administrative functions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the supervision of all school staff and ensure that a system for monitoring and developing the quality assurance of teaching and learning is in place to continuously sustain conformity to approved standards.
  • Ensure the preparation of the school’s budget in accordance with the school’s financial policy.
  • Ensure discipline and high ethical standards in the school.
  • Oversee the general coordination of all school related events and HSE related activities for positive outcome, effectiveness and safety of all pupils, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with government and other agencies on educational matters for purpose of compliance with legislative and statutory requirements.
  • Plan, manage and monitor the school’s curricula within the agreed budget, setting appropriate KPIs for expenditure, ensuring effective administration control and School’s Annual Delivery Plan.
  • Ensure the School is adequately resourced to effectively deliver on the key objectives as approved by the school Board.
  • Ensure School Review and the development of the school’s staff via coaching and mentoring to ensure professionalism in the school.

Job Requirements/Person Specifications
Education:

  • A University Degree – B.Ed. or BA / B.Sc. plus PGCE or PGDE in any discipline at a minimum of 2nd Class Lower.
  • Possession of a Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years teaching experience out of which at least 5 years should have been involved at a senior management! leadership position in an International School (e.g. Deputy Headklead of School).
  • Should be experienced in the management and administration of an International Curriculum such as the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Experience in the English and Nigerian Curricula is also an advantage.
  • Must have qualified teacher status (e.g. be a registered member with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, have QTS or recognition by a similar international body.
  • Should be a person with high integrity and excellent character.
  • Not more than 50 years old by May 31st, 2018.
