Job Title: Shift Manager
Location: Lagos

Job Brief

Job Title: Chemist
Location: Lagos

Job Brief

  • We are currently seeking an experienced, thorough, and reliable Chemist to join our laboratory team
  • In this role, you will manage multiple projects, ensuring the requirements of each are met with the highest degree of accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Collect samples and prepare them according to procedure
  • Conduct all required tests, extractions, and studies
  • Accurately record all experimental data as directed
  • Comply with all standard operating procedures at all times
  • Maintain a vigilant commitment to safety at all times
  • Ensure all samples are properly disposed of and follow environmental regulations
  • Utilize all equipment as intended and maintain it as needed
  • Perform lab maintenance activities as required
  • Conduct regular equipment calibrations
  • Provide regular updates to Senior Chemist
  • Participate in quality audits and all required trainings

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry etc.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting
  • Pharmaceutical and analytical chemistry experience preferred
  • Quality control experience strongly preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of analytical method development and validation
  • Commitment to compliance with standard operating procedures
  • Committed to safety and compliance with lab procedures/guidelines
  • Consistent, accurate recording and reporting of data/results
  • Thorough and precise in all tasks
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases

Responsibilities

  • Oversees shift overall performance to optimal target
  • Coordinates the working resources effectively to achieve the performance goal
  • Organize the various areas in the section to efficient operation.
  • Ensure focus on performance quality/quantity/cost and profitability
  • Ensure the generation and effective treatment of Pick list, Batch records and Work Orders.
  • Control product cost through effective labor utilization and pragmatic equipment and facilities management.
  • Supervise the disposal of all controlled substance in line with existing regulations.
  • Efficiently resolve conflicts among staff members and between customers and staff
  • Monitor inventory and maintain product stock
  • Oversee receiving of products and supplies
  • Maintain equipment and arrange for regular upkeep and maintenance
  • Ensure that all areas are clean, tidy, and well-maintained
  • Actively participate in all production activities involved in New Product Introduction, New Packaging Material Development and New Process Installation.
  • Coordinate all Manufacturing and Packaging Process / Equipment Validation in accordance with Validation Master Plan. This includes data generation, collation and logical interpretation.
  • Ensure timely calibration of all Production equipment and ensure appropriate actions are taken on out of order equipment.
