In response to the emergency situation in Nigeria, ACTED, recruits to fill the position below:

Job Title: GFD Officer

Location: Borno

Your Main Duties and Responsibilities
General Programming & Operations:

  • Ensure efficient and effective program implementation by following the work plan and other guidelines set by the Food Distribution Team Leader.
  • Mobilize beneficiary communities and other relevant stakeholders to participate in the program and maintain the established/rehabilitated/protected Shelters.
  • Participate in relevant training to ensure that you are able to carry out your duties.
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/ reports.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation of the program.

Coordination and Representation:

  • Work as part of team on Food Distribution issues.
  • Ensure integration of Food Distribution activities with other ACTED sectors.
  • Ensure good representation and reputation of ACTED Food Distribution at all levels.
  • Actively participate in internal coordination meetings

Project Development:

  • Support the development of projects’ M&E tools
  • Project implementation and reporting
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation of Food Distribution Projects.
  • Ensure quality during implementation of Food Distribution activities in accordance to Internationa and National standards.
  • Support the Food Distribution Team leader in preparing Food Distribution weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to relevant authorities as needed.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise Food Distribution Assistants.
  • Provide technical and programmatic leadership for the Food Distribution staff members and community based mechanisms in operational areas as needed.
  • Develop staff performance measurement and targets with the Food Distribution Team Leader for the Food Distribution Assistants and appraise them based on the set targets.
  • Conduct daily field visits (or as required) to ensure Food Distribution  tasks are going on as planned and mentoring – through technical back stopping and training of duty bearers.

Logistics / Finance:

  • Support the Food Distribution Team Leader and Manager to monitor financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-ups.
  • Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas.
  • Initiate procurements and ensure their execution.
  • Ensure distribution plans are prepared and shared with logistics in a timely manner.
  • Manage day to day project expenditures of Food Distribution Assistants and other relevant team members.

Essential:

  • Minimum of one year working in humanitarian responses
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong focus on both quantitative and qualitative Field methodologies preferred
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite,
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience collecting information using hand-held GPS devices

Desirable:

  • Previous working experience with humanitarian agencies
  • Experience working with displaced populations
  • Experience hiring and managing casual laborers

Job Title: Community Liaison/Protection Officer

Location: Borno

About the Job

  • The Community Liaison and Protection Officers will be responsible for providing legal awareness to target populations on the Process of Food Distribution as well assisting in the management of protection cases as identified. In addition, this individual will be responsible for assisting the Food Distribution team in Borno to organize Food Distribution and to conduct beneficiary intake and Food Concern referrals.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Support the Protection Unit in ensuring that protection is mainstreamed into ACTED projects implemented Borno with international standards and relevant ACTED Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Keep Protection Unit appraised of gaps and problems in protection programming and issues for internal improvement, advocacy or take-up with other agencies.
  • Where cases with protection and other service needs are identified, ensure timely referral, documentation and follow up, as per ACTED standards for referrals and data protection.
  • Provide protection sensitization sessions to Community Leaders and Gate keepers, identified through ACTED Food Distribution activities.
  • Assist the Protection Unit with establishing safe referral pathways with key stakeholders to refer protection cases to those partners.
  • Assist in facilitating information assistance sessions on issues including Food right.
  • Contribute and support effective monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and initiatives, ensure effective data and information management and contribute to regular reporting on protection and Food Distribution activities.
  • Assist in the development and roll out of a livelihood referral in-take form to assess beneficiary profile, needs, and employment eligibility;
  • Provide one-on-one support to community center beneficiaries to identify appropriate referral pathway.
  • Create and maintain on going relation and communication with formal and informal authorities.
  • Support the distribution team with communication and mobilization campaign.
  • Support the beneficiary’s identification and registration campaign(s).
  • Create and maintain relation and communication with representatives of the beneficiaries.
  • Any other occasionaly task requieered for the implementation of ACTED’s programs.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Completion of university degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Humanities, Arts or social Sciences.
  • At least 1-3 years protection experience in a humanitarian and/or development sector;
  • Experience working with local organizations and local communities;
  • Understanding of socio-economic conditions and legal status of Nigerian Displaced populations is a must;
  • Experience working on sensitive protection activities that require discretion and adherence to data protection protocols;
  • Strong knowledge of protection related needs, services and challenges;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish reports;
  • Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.

Desirable:

  • Extensive knowledge of Nigerian displacement context.

Job Title: GFD Team Leader

Location: Borno

About the Job

  • The Food Distribution Team Lead’s primary function is to ensure the quality of the planning, implementation and follow up on all aspects of the Food Distribution activities being implemented by ACTED. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

General Programming & Operations:

  • Ensure efficient and Effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan.
  • To formulate and implement capacity building plans for field teams and individuals. Provide training to ensure field teams are able to carry out their duties.
  • Manage field teams.
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/ reports and proposals and budgets for donors.
  • Mobilization of beneficiary communities to maintain the established/rehabilitated/protected Food Distribution Locations.
  • Lead the food distribution team in carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises.
  • Coordination and representation
  • Collaborate with relevant Internal and External technical experts on Food Distribution issues.
  • Support the Food Distribution Program Manager by attending Food Distribution  meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings as needed
  • Ensure integration of Food Distribution activities with other ACTED sectors.
  • Coordinate with Food Distribution counterparts in other locations in the implementation of common funded projects.
  • Actively participate in internal coordination meeting

Project Development:

  • Previous working experience in humanitarian assistance program and urban planning an advantage
  • Previous working experience in North East Nigeria an advantage

Desirable:

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility
  • Prior experience working in IDP displacement locations
  • Fluency written and spoken fluency in English and Hausa a must; additional fluency in Kanuri preferred

Job Title: Food Distribution Database Officer

Location: Borno

About the Job

  • This position falls under the direct management of ACTED’s  Food Distribution Project Manager
  • Acted’s Food Distribution Database Officer will play an integral part of the Food Distribution team. Database Officer will work primarily on data collection and database-related activities within sites operated by ACTED.

Your Main Duties and Responsibilities
Implement Food Distribution activities as requested by the Food Distribution Team Leader and PM such as but not limited to:

  • Ability to code and work with Open Data Kit (ODK) and Kobo applications for Android platforms
  • Strong skills in excel formulas
  • Good data entry skills
  • Ability to create a formal site monitoring tool for handheld devices (phones, tablets), site residence database and monthly demographic reports
  • Ensure timely and adequate registration of IDPs in / out camp, including identification of persons with specific needs in coordination with protection partners.
  • Maintaining the beneficiaries database updating this database daily based on new arrivals and new departures
  • Promptly complying with requests for demographic information by ACTED’s Food Distribution team and by other partners/stakeholders.
  • Monitor status of population and highlighting trends
  • Treat community members in a sensitive and humane manner
  • (Create) and maintain distribution muster roll and reporting tools.
  • Installing and maintaining a small computer network (server + 3 to 6). Resolving issues in all IT related distribution registration.
  • Any other tasks as requested by ACTED’s Food Distribution Team Leader and GFD Program Manager.

About you

  • Technical skills such as Microsoft Office, ODK, Kobo collecting data using tablets/cells and Android devices
  • Degree of Information technology and/or records Management
  • Minimum one years’ experience for Data Management
  • Good skills and ability to run and operate Data base system.
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite,
