We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: OHP Assistant
Location: 
Ngala, Diwka, Magumeri – Borno State – with travel to other activity sites.
Reporting to: WASH Officer
Status: Full time
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
Starting date: As soon as possible

Purpose of the Position

  • The Hygiene Promotion Assistant is responsible for the quality of INTERSOS’ interactions with IDPs and the local communities, ensuring strong relationships and
  • promoting community ownership of all INTERSOS activities related to water, sanitation and hygiene in Borno State. The Hygiene Promotion Assistant is responsible for
  • activities Planning and mobilization, conducting trainings for communities on hygiene, Water Management Committees, Awareness campain, Data collection, supporting
  • WASH INTERSOS in developing the new concept ideas and mobilizing the communities for WASH activities.

Responsibilities

  • Disseminate key messages on hygiene and carry out massive hygiene promotion campaign
  • Ensure community participation in all WASH activities.
  • Mobilize, train and follow-up on communities/WASH committees formed and/or trained by INTERSOS in all activities concerning WASH, ensuring good
  • community participation, gender balance and ownership by the community
  • Plan for, organize and conduct trainings for communities and committees in areas such as Water management Committees, School hygiene clubs, Hygiene
  • awareness in communities
  • Ensure constant communication with INTERSOS WASH staff to identify potential problems, formulate recommendations and solutions and report
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to the field, to follow-up on INTERSOS activities and ensure community participation in the activities
  • Ensure that consideration is given with focus on gender, protection and HIV/AIDS in water and sanitation activities
  • Gather health and hygiene related information and report to Hygiene Promotion Officer
  • Liaise with community leaders and other groups within their communities
  • Conduct relevant needs assessment whenever requested
  • Provide detailed, accurate and timely weekly reports to supervisor on activities, challenges and areas in need of improvement

Required Qualifications and Skills
Qualification:

  • Must have a minimum of Diploma Environmental Health Studies, Social Sciences or other relevant fields with relevant experience and training in Hygiene

Promotion:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in WASH, preferably with humanitarian organization

Language:

  • English is mandatory
  • Strong humanitarian commitment

Quality:

  • Dynamic, autonomous, Proactive, flexible, take initiative.
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of local language is an asset
  • Availability to work in targeted LGAs, Borno State

Job Title: Medical Doctor
Locations: 
Ngala, Diwka, Magumeri – Borno State – with travel to other activity sites.
Reporting to: Clinical Supervisor
Status: Full time
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
Starting date: As soon as possible

Purpose of the Position

  • Under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Manager, s/he will provide professional
  • technical advice input in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their
  • communities as well as to improve the health condition of the target population
  • Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted
  • and updated medical knowledge, existing and validated protocols, values and universal hygiene
  • standards to improve the patients/beneficiary’s health conditions.

Responsibilities
Management of the Health and Nutrition Program – Clinic:

  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and/or inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting protocols in targeted HF and in mobile clinic activities.
  • Knows and ensures all medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected
  • To assess and make the necessary arrangements for patients who need advanced care that is not available at INTERSOS health facility and have to be referred.

Management:

  • Assist in response and management of any health and nutrition emergency and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
  • Promote mother infant and young child feeding best practices in various health facilities.
  • Participate actively in planned program Rapid Health and Nutrition assessment/surveys.
  • Review personnel issues and concerns of health and nutrition staff and assist with determining and implementing solutions.
  • Participate in recruitment of health and nutrition program staff as appropriate.
  • Supervise the use of materials, equipment and supplies for the intervention.
  • Identify opportunities for program development

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s university degree in Medicine and Surgery from an accredited university.
  • Two years of relevant professional work experience, including in a developing country, in public health and nutrition.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Kanuri and Hausa Languages will be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
  • Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)
  • Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills
  • Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.
  • Manages effectively his own time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed
  • Willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.

Job Title: Nurse
Location:

Position Summary

  • To provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients according to the protocols applied and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the beneficiaries.
  • To undertake health programme activities guaranteeing the efficient and effective sensitization, mobilization and participation of the targeted communities, thereby maximizing program performance.
  • The nurse shall ensure that supportive supervision isgiven to the community mobilizers, Health Assistants, guidelines set in the health protocols are followed during program implementation.
  • The nurse shall also ensure that every beneficiary receives adequate medical examination, the required routine and prescribed medication and referral for additional treatment, as appropriate and according to the protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Knowing, promoting, implementing and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensuring high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment in the targeted HF and in the mobile clinic. Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality at all times.
  • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, performing consultations and other minor medical procedures.
  • Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed;
  • Be available to oversee screening, treatment and follow up of malnourished patients in the field sites when called upon
  • Ability to head the outreach and hygiene promotion team and guide community health volunteers from time to time
  • Participate in planning and undertaking health surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the health program activities
  • Responsible for providing inputs and data for monthly health activities’ reports in timely manner.
  • Participate and update progress in weekly technical meeting with health staff
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping, ordering and accountability of health equipment, supplies and drugs (Participating in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (quality and its functioning, storage conditions, follow-up of expired drugs inventories, stock takes of medicines and material, etc.)
  • Ensure the quality of the health service given in all different locations meet the expected standards.
  • Responsibility for the day to day management of project site activities and staff.
  • Conduct trainings to build the capacity of staff/volunteers, MoH staff and the community at large
  • Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience in a similar environment as the project sites above
  • Possession of a valid practicing certificate.
  • Diploma in Nutrition will be and additional advantage
  • Experience in implementation of nutrition program will be an additional advantage
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri and Hausa Languages
