Job Title: Recruitment and Admissions Officer
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Department: Recruitment and Admissions Office
Reports directly to (Line Manager):  Business Development & Office Manager
Directly supervises:  N/A

Job Summary/Purpose

  • Work closely with Business Development and Office Manager to coordinate and provide support to TAG network of feeder schools, colleges and agents across Nigeria, International pathway providers and other sources of international student recruitment.
  • Provide effective support for the organisation and participation of recruitment events and education fairs across Nigeria to promote the benefits of enrolling on our university programmes.
  • Provide effective support in developing and nurturing of on-going relationship with corporate organizations to ensure long term partnerships and ROI

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the recruitment and admission of students into the university’s programmes as follows:

Schools Relations and Engagement:

  • To support the development of new activities and materials as required, working closely with relevant academic department and colleagues in Marketing, Business Development and Recruitment teams;
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with students and alumni to help with recruitment and admissions activities;
  • To provide administrative and logistical support for the planning and preparation of wider schools outreach programmes;
  • To provide information, advice and guidance on higher education to high school students. These will be delivered both out in schools, and on campus;
  • To provide needed support in delivering wider recruitment and outreach activities, representing the university to potential students, parents, Heads of Schools, teachers and School Counsellors, and to act as a persuasive ambassador for TAG Ghana /Lancaster University Ghana and programmes of the university;

Call Centre and Lead  Management:

  • Provide call centre support to assigned leads, including Open Days and recruitment campaigns;
  • Ensure that all new leads are entered into CRM within 24 hours during working week;
  • Maintain management information on enquiries using the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system;
  • Ensure that lead statuses, notes and personal details are kept fully up to date at all times and after each and every communication with prospective students;
  • Respond to admissions enquiries within 24 hours during working week;
  • Maintain and update databases of recognized external university pathways programmes (English Pre-Sessional / International Foundation Programmes / Pre-master’s / Diplomas) to support the University’s Admissions teams in assessing applications from these channels;
  • Maintain and update databases of school counsellors, international school and feeder colleges  and assist in the production of regularly newsletters to support recruitment growth from these channels;

Build an understanding of each students’ needs and interest:

  • Build and maintain good relationship with prospective students and parents;
  • Get to know prospective students through enquiries and active listening;
  • Identify what each  prospective student needs, then personalise and tailor your offer accordingly;

Provide guidance on Admission Process, making the experience positive and memorable:

  • Provide guidance on admission process, making the experience positive and engaging throughout;
  • Advise  applicants on programme choices, offering relevant information to enable applicant make an informed choice;
  • Ensure that prospective students have memorable student experience throughout their “Student Journey”, from enquiry to enrolment;

Conversion:

  • To provide administrative and logistical support for the planning and preparation of wider schools outreach programmes;
  • Drive conversion at each stage of the pipeline by maintaining a focus on closing towards the next step;
  • Deal with new enquiries effectively and convert the enquiry to a visit to the campus;
  • Organise campus tours and run information sessions for prospective students interested in finding out more about programmes of the university;
  • Support students in their induction and orientation to ensure a positive start to their “Student Journey”;
  • Ensure that prospective students receive relevant pre-arrival information that will enhance great student experience;
  • Liaise with BD Manager to develop conversion plans so candidates accept their offers including connecting candidates to students & alumni as well as organising conversion events;
  • Follow up with leads at all stages of the pipeline that have become unresponsive to reignite their interest;

Corporate Engagement & Careers:

  • Coordinating the delivery of a wide range of extra-curricular employer events, including networking events, career development workshops and recruitment fairs;
  • Adopting and implementing TAG’s careers and employability guidelines and resources to  students;
  • Collaborating with Business Development and Marketing teams to conduct market and intelligence research to inform the development of strategy, planning including identification and development of new markets, courses and opportunities for  programmes of the university;
  • Work closely with BD & Office Manager in:
  • Building relationships with employers in Nigeria and abroad;
  • Representing TAG to prospective employers and seek appropriate new internship placement opportunities both nationally and internationally through networking activities with employers;
  • Marketing partnership opportunities to the commercial and industrial sectors;
  • Developing and nurturing on-going relationship with corporate organizations to ensure long term partnerships and ROI;
  • Coordinating the delivery of  careers, internships, alumni and employer relations strategy;
  • Promoting internship opportunities to the students;
  • Supporting and working with university communities to produce a varied range of career-related activities and events;
  • Designing and delivering a wide range of employability and careers provisions for Transnational Academic Group (TAG);

Recruitment Events & Activities:

  • Liaise effectively with Business Development and Marketing teams to organise Education Fairs, Open Days, Alumni events and international student recruitment fairs  and activities including the Counsellors Workshop, Principals Workshop, , Agent Conferences, Debating Competitions leading to successful  students recruitment;
  • Work  closely with Marketing and PR team  to develop  and maintain accurate and persuasive course information and  customized communication content for Nigeria market;
  • Work closely with Business Development team to undertake follow-ups outreach programmes with corporate organisations in terms of creating awareness and repositioning Lancaster University Ghana as a university of choice and meeting recruitment, conversion and enrolment targets;
  • Work with BD Manager to organise  campus events and tours for key international recruitment channel partners and groups of students that can lead to interest in university programmes and enrolment;

Person Specification
Required Academic Qualifications and Competencies: (Essential/Desirable – CV/Interview/Presentation)

  • Experience of applying sales/engagement/conversion techniques – Essential (Interview)
  • Collaborative team player with experience working in a dynamic multi-cultural organisation; – Essential    (Interview)
  • Experience of planning, prioritizing and organising work on daily, weekly and monthly basis, individually and as part of a team, while ensuring the effective use of resources and delivering to tight deadlines – Essential    (Interview)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate and adjust information that need careful explanation or interpretation to suit the needs of different audiences – Essential    (Interview/Presentation)
