Description of Duties

  • Reporting to the Emergency Manager and under the leadership of the Head of WHO Country Office, the incumbent acts as an advisor to the WHO emergency team on data and information management activities, enabling the development, implementation, and monitoring strategies that maximize the individual and collective impact of WHO’s throughout the full cycle of the emergency, in the country of deployment.
  • S/he will engage with the local authorities, UN partners and non-health actors to establish strategic partnerships in respect of multi-dimensional information management processes.
  • Team lead, responsible for overseeing the work of the Information Management unit and/or coordinating the work of Information Management assets located throughout disparate units.
  • Manage the timely and high-quality collection, analyses, production and dissemination of data/information. Objectives

  • Reporting to the WHE lead, and under the overall guidance of the Country Office Operations Officer, the incumbent will carry out administrative activities within the emergency programme, ensuring the overall compliance with the financial and administrative rules and emergency Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • The incumbent will liaise with the Administration and Management Cluster/Nigeria to ensure coordination and implementation of administrative services in the WHE cluster.

Description of Duties

  • Working under the overall guidance of the Country Office Operations Officer and the direct supervision of the WHE Team Lead, the incumbent will be required to provide administrative support to match the Cluster needs and effectiveness of its operations. Specifically, the position holder will:
  • In collaboration with the Management and Administration Cluster, support the formulation of general and specific budgetary estimate for the emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities.
  • Liaise with the Budget and Finance Unit to ensure the management of funding allocations and awards; track and report on financing against budget; support, monitor and report on financial implementation in compliance with WHO rules, emergency SOPs and delegations of authority.

  • Support the development and implementation of Data Quality Improvement Plans (DQIP) in collaboration with MoH and partners’ agencies.

  • The post holder will support the national authorities to achieve goal of interruption of wild poliovirus transmission as well as attain other national and regional goals in line with the 2022 Regional IVD targets.
  • The post holder will support the strengthening of polio eradication/immunization activities in a manner that would complement ongoing efforts to revitalize and strengthen Primary Health Care within the recently developed framework for National Strategy for Immunization and PHC System Strengthening (NSIPSS), 2018-2028
  • The objective of the EPI programme is to support national authorities to provide high quality immunization services that will contribute to: (a) the reduction of mortality, morbidity and disability from vaccine preventable diseases through the optimum use of available and new vaccines and technologies (b) the strengthening of national health systems as well as efforts to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and health related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Description of Duties

  • Under the overall supervision of the WHO Country Representative, the Officer will provide technical support to WHO EPI Staff based at central, zonal as well as state level in Nigeria. This position reports to the EPI Team Leader, and liaises with other EPI sub-units including Immunization, Monitoring & Evaluation, Surveillance, EPI Operations and EPI Program Management.

The specific functions of the incumbent are:

  • To support national authorities and partners in strengthening and redesign of the immunization supply chain to improve bundled vaccine supply to service delivery points.

Objectives

  • The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGoN) through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has established the National Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (NERICC) to lead the efforts towards revamping Nigeria’s routine immunization program.
  • NERICC thus functions as a coordination mechanism in managing the full implementation of the national routine immunization program. This includes strategies and key recommendations towards achieving routine immunization coverage of at least 80% in 2028. This goal and strategies are as outlined in Nigeria’s Strategy for Immunization and PHC Systems Strengthening (NSIPSS 2018 – 2028).
  • Technical assistance will be deployed to the NERICC to strengthen the coordination, design and implementation of routine immunization strategies which NERICC shall undertake.
  • The Technical Adviser (TA) to NERICC shall support the Program Manager (PM) NERICC in ensuring all NERICC objectives are met.
  • The TA shall function as a core member of the NERICC team providing technical support in the strategic execution and achievement of NERICC goals and objectives. The TA shall report directly to the PM NERICC

Description of Duties

  • Under the overall leadership of the WR/Nigeria, technical guidance by the EPI team leader and direct supervision of the PM NERICC. The Technical Adviser NERICC will conduct the following specific tasks:
  • Support the overall strengthening of the routine immunization program in Nigeria including new vaccine introductions and the achievement of the routine immunization goals as outlined in the NSIPSS

  • The TA shall, as directed by the PM NERICC, represent the PM in discussions or correspondence with NERICC, development partners and other stakeholders on immunization and vaccine delivery systems
  • As directed by the PM, attend meetings of the immunization technical working groups and other relevant technical meetings, updating the PM on issues pertaining to routine immunizations, SIAs, vaccine logistics and demand creation
  • Maintain quality interactions with national, state level, and international stakeholders supporting the immunization program
  • Support the PM on administrative activities related to SERICC, including closely liaising with other relevant departments and programs in the NPHCDA
