Job Title: Product Analyst, ETPs & Indices

Job Summary

  • The Nigerian Stock Exchange is a leading Exchange in Africa that currently offers listing and trading in Equities, ETPs and Bonds, is searching for an ETPs Product Analyst.
  • The Product Analyst will assist in all functions pertaining to the Secondary Markets Department, with the overall goal of ensuring that Exchange Traded Products get the necessary support, in terms of increased trading activity, listings, visibility and efficient pricing.
  • The position is situated Nigeria, but with a global focus to cover both local and international buy and sell side participants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor and document trends in the investment management industry, Exchange business and the competitive environment
  • Support new product development efforts within the ETPs space based on cutting edge research
  • Research & provide reports on trends, new subject matter and industry best practice to be used in research proposals. Monitor and report on a weekly and periodic basis performance of ETPs globally and locally
  • Increase the level of understanding of ETPs in the ecosystem by creating compelling content for video, print and social media production
  • Support relationship building with Issuers, broker-dealers, market makers, Institutional Investors (PFAs, CPFAs, Insurance companies, managed funds, portfolio managers, etc) and other market participants locally and internationally
  • Monitor the performance of liquidity providers on a weekly and periodic basis. Ensure smooth onboarding of Liquidity providers and dissemination of the ETF market microstructure guidelines
  • Research & provide reports to be used for meetings, business calls, strategic planning sessions, presentations and Management briefings
  • Implement investor campaigns, seminar and conference to enhance investor education
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Department
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations for EXCO and all key stakeholders
  • Serve as a proactive resource to other product markets within the division, contributing meaningfully on new initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • A first degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative or Business related areas
  • Pathway towards a post graduate degree or professional certification and licenses (eg CIS, CFA, CISI) will be an added advantage

Job Title: Product Analyst, Thematic Assets

Job Summary

  • The Thematic Product Analyst will be required to perform market research and analysis with a view to originating new fixed income solutions including, but not limited to Islamic Finance products, Infrastructure bonds, Project bonds, Green, Social, and other sustainable fixed income products on the Exchange.
  • S/he will provide guidance on industry trends and make forecasts pertaining to the growth and development of fixed income markets in order to identify relevant market solutions and determine the strategic positioning of these products within the context of the Nigerian Capital Markets.
  • The incumbent will provide the necessary support with respect to the development of a thematic product suite with a view to increasing order flow, measured by number of transactions, trading volume, and value, in line with the overall goals of the department. In particular, the incumbent will maintain responsibility for the development of a robust, and end-to-end framework that covers the origination, trading, and settlement of the related product line.
  • S/he will be required to stay abreast of developments in the capital markets from a business and macroeconomic perspective in order to support the creation of a competitive platform that enables stakeholders realize their investment objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee work plans for the thematic, fixed income activities of the Exchange
  • Participate effectively in the preparation of department/group/division annual budgets
  • Review and analyse financial and other related data collected from potential issuers of the related products
  • Monitor economic and corporate developments through the analysis of information obtained from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, Government Agencies and trade publications
  • Conduct preliminary and detailed review on fixed income markets and products for the Exchange
  • Monitor and update financial indicators and develop status reports on industry trends
  • Research and analyse the activities of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), Federal Government Agencies, Islamic Finance organizations, and provide market insights and recommendations for the Exchange
  • Provide coaching, support, and consultation to Management and Staff on issues and concerns relating to the thematic product suite of the Exchange
  • Understand and keep abreast of global trends and developments in fixed income markets and products
  • Develop related policies and conduct relevant research on the subject matter
  • Contribute to process improvement by identifying more efficient processes of executing work and developing automated reporting/forecasting tools
  • Document procedural steps to follow in the operations of the financial analyses
  • Implement and maintain operational procedures to ensure all activities are carried out in a systemic manner
  • Participate in the development of a robust regulatory framework for the identified products
  • Provide technical guidance to other employees relating to thematic fixed income products
  • Ensure the incorporation of Industry best practices in financial analysis and activities
  • Maintain responsibility for the development of thematic products for The Exchange
  • Report generation and critical analysis of all aspects of the relevant products. Develop presentations and analyse results with Senior Management
  • Develop briefs and ad-hoc reports as requested by Management
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Periodically updating policy, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with regard to the thematic product suite of the Exchange
  • Conduct regular research and liaising with professionals across various industries to ensure best practices for the Fixed Income and Currencies Market are practiced in the organization
  • Support other Secondary Market team members and stakeholders, in designing, pricing, and identifying key issues that must be resolved before a successful product launch occurs
  • Serve as gatekeeper, ambassador and product line expert to internal/external stakeholders
  • Research new product ideas in conjunction with institutional/wholesale distribution and marketing firms to determine success potentials and uniqueness within the industry

Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum of 5 Years relevant experience in a capital markets or related role
  • University degree with emphasis on Economics, Finance & Accounting or any other numerate courses (Science or Engineering)
  • Masters’ degree will be considered an added advantage
  • At least one relevant professional qualifications eg ACCA, ACA.
