Job Title: Accounting Officer – Relaunched (Local)

Location: Lagos

Job Descriptions

  • The job involves the monitoring and reconciliation of major General Ledger (GL) accounts in the different Joint Venture (JV) entities under various contractual agreements. It requires:
    • Knowledge of financing structures requiring unique Accounting interpretations and implementations;
    • Knowledge of a wide range of Accounting and regulatory standards;
    • Interface within and outside the division and Company – Cost Control, General Accounting, Commercial, Treasury, Budget & reporting, Corporate Accounting, Stock Control, Partners, External Auditors (Local & Group) and Government agencies (NNPC, NAPIMS, DPR, NIMASA).

Accountabilities
The Accounting Officer shall:

  • Analyse various General Ledger accounts and investigate issues arising there from with special emphasis on the Working Capital accounts;
  • Reconcile Partners’ current account balances with Cash calls, Billing statements and the General ledger;
  • Account for Cash Calls / Draw-downs paid by and on behalf of Partners into the JV Accounts;
  • Analyse and reconcile inter venture payables and receivables;
  • Review the cutback process from a Cost Trial Balance (CTB) and General Trial Balance (GTB) perspective to determine accuracy and completeness of Partners’ share in line with contractual agreements, and investigate of issues arising there from;
  • Analyse and reconcile consumable stock balances between FI/CO and MM modules of SAP;
  • Compute and post Service fee and Parent Company Overhead in line with contractual obligations and agreements;
  • Prepare Accounting analysis in support of Partners, Group, NNPC, Tax, External & Internal audits and other special investigations and ad hoc audits;
  • Monitor and follow closure processes and provide relevant inputs as may be required;
  • Prepare monthly returns for Withholding Tax (WHT), Value added Tax (VAT), Nigerian Content development (NCD) levy and Cabotage deductions;
  • Provide support to other entities that interface with the Accounting department;
  • Carry out any other ad hoc duties as delegated.

Job Requirements

  • The Accounting Officer shall possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class upper division in either Accounting, Finance, Business related discipline, Computer Science, Engineering or any numeric discipline. Completion of NYSC is mandatory.

Other requirements include:

  • Very good organizational ability with effective communication skills;
  • Aptitude for specialized accounting software (SAP) and other Windows office applications;
  • Good organisational, interpersonal, writing and analytical skills.

Job Title: General Manager, Operations

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • The General Manager (Operations) will head and lead the operations department of the company, and will report directly to the Managing Director of the company in discharging the following functions:

Responsibilities
Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities

In the exercise of his managerial and supervisory responsibilities, the General Manager (Operations) will support the managing director to:

  • Contribute strategic direction and leadership in line with the corporate business plan and strategy for operations department;
  • Implement business strategic decisions as relate to operations department;
  • Implement strategic plans that reflect the long-term objectives and priorities as delegated by the managing director;
  • Maintain, control and appraise the operations department performance against budget and plans;
  • Monitor the operating and financial results against plans and budgets;
  • Take full responsibility in the implementation of the company’s operations department decisions and review with the managing director;
  • Foster a conducive corporate culture that promotes strong ethical practices, good corporate governance and employee productivity.

Operational Responsibilities & Tasks

  • The General Manager (Operations) will carry out the following and other operational duties as may be assigned to him by the managing director:
  • Oversee the activities of staff of the operations department;
  • Ensure effective mobilization, control and utilization of departmental resources;
  • Ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of services provided to clients and other stake holders.
  • Conduct risk assessment and manage the department’s strategic decisions to mitigate failures;
  • Negotiate, develop and maintain contractual arrangements with key clients and suppliers to deliver best value and service levels;
  • Maintain and sustain the company’s quality, health and safety standards, training and meetings in line with company policies and procedures;
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the managing director informed of all critical issues, and operational risks with solutions;
  • Stakeholder management – build strong relationships and contacts with clients, potential clients, key policy influencers, allied professional bodies, to help secure on-going projects for the company;
  • Attend senior management weekly and monthly review meetings to present and defend operations department’s reports and execute decisions arising from the meetings;
  • Respond to operations inquiries as may be delegated by the managing director;

Requirements

  • A minimum of 12 years of continuous working experience with at least 7 years spent in senior management and corporate leadership, especially in the oil & gas servicing industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following areas: Engineering, Geology, Physical Sciences, Business, Social Sciences, and Humanities and Arts, or related field
  • Post-graduate qualifications such as MBA, MSc and relevant certifications are an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to communicate in English and Italian
  • Ability to travel as this position is based in Lagos, Nigeria with requirement to travel across the country.
