Job Title: Subsurface Technical Manager

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • The role will act as Company Technical Authority for Upstream, Subsurface and Wells delivery to ensure design work by Contractors meets Company standards and relevant industry codes.
  • Job holder should be active in mentoring and developing Staff to obtain a sustainable and competitive advantage for Company.
  • To support development of the Project from design development through to Hand-Over
  • Job Holder is required to provide Reservoir and Subsurface Engineering expertise to ensure Project is continually informed and updated in Upstream and Subsurface matters in relation with Upstream Operator’s scope.
  • To leads and drives all factors relating to Upstream, Subsurface, Wells delivery and (particularly) represents the project in Upstream and OML JV meetings where Project presence is requested.
  • This role requires delivery of world class performance and leadership to the upstream function along with supporting AGPC Stakeholders to ensure upstream engineering competencies equal expectation and business challenge.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Interface with Government officials on Upstream matters
  • Support commissioning and operations readiness/ development
  • Organisation – Attach approved organisation chart with position titles
  • Dimensions: (Record any significant quantities on which job has some effect, e.g. budget or turnover, records processed, employees supervised, including personnel at other locations, if appropriate).
  • This role interfaces with IOC and Upstream Operator and coordinate with Engineering Team.
  • Relationship: (Who are the job holder’s most important external/internal contacts and for what purpose?)
  • Job Context and Challenges: (Identify the most complex or demanding aspects of the job)
  • Lead Upstream Coordination efforts
  • Guide the project in matters relating to reservoir performance, other subsurface matters and SPDC delivery performance for Upstream
  • Interface with Government officials on subsurface and OML 53 matters
  • Support commissioning and operations readiness/ development
  • Monitor, make weekly and monthly reports on Upstream progress and issues
  • Be the Technical Authority for Upstream and Subsurface matters within the Project
  • Play a leading and collaborative role within the Project development, reporting to, and working closely with PMT members.
  • Establish and lead the Upstream Coordination function supporting the Project
  • Support other members of management team, advising and representing subsurface and drilling issues and schedule, support project planning and coordination with Upstream activity
  • Interface with DPR and other Government officials on behalf of project
  • Manage Upstream Interface Register and ensure close out of issues
  • Lead Upstream and Subsurface coordination
  • Guide Engineering as relates to Upstream matters

Requirements
Job Knowledge and Qualifications: (Indicate minimum knowledge and essential background qualifications necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Knowledge of contracts and contracting strategy
  • Mentoring and coaching of others
  • Technical excellence to guide and challenge Upstream and demonstrate competence and credibility under scrutiny of third parties and auditors
  • Significant departmental project contribution.
  • Educational Qualifications and experience appropriate to subsurface and reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering will be helpful
  • 20 plus years in reservoir and subsurface engineering
  • Experience developing new gas fields from subsurface perspective
