Job Title: Male House Parent/Sports Coach

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • As a House Parent, you are concerned with all the tasks relating to the personal care, boarding accommodation, hostel snacks, study, recreation and weekly/weekend activities of children under your care. You are to live in the boarding house with the children.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the school development programs, procedures and policies that contribute towards the on-going improvements and effective management of the boarding houses
  • Foster and maintain a school climate where learning and the school values of respect, fairness, integrity and team spirit are paramount
  • Encourage students to accept responsibility, promote school expectations and be able to manage situations within the assigned year group, and to refer to the Head of Boarding where appropriate
  • Actively support and promote the school’s “character count program”
  • Arrange and supervise activities that promote intellectual, physical, social and spiritual development of students
  • Ensure high standard of living and hygiene standards are maintained in the hostels
  • Conduct orientation and induction of new students and help the students settle properly in the hostels
  • Lend a sympathetic ear to students with problems or provide counseling and where necessary refer students to the school counsellor through the Head of Boarding
  • Accompany students on outings
  • Liaise with parents/guardians as appropriate in meeting the needs of students; respond to parents/guardians requests concerning their children as appropriate
  • Keep the hostels safe and orderly by safely placing or stacking materials.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to the Head of Boarding immediately, even if there is no injury
  • Inspect the hostel daily and report any hazards immediately to the Head of Boarding
  • Take a roll call of students within ten (10) minutes of end of lessons and dinner when all students are expected to have returned to the hostels. Investigate student(s) absence and report to the Head of Boarding immediately
  • Ensure that students leaving the hostels at the time all students are meant to be in the hostel are accompanied by an adult
  • Be visible at the quadrangle whenever students are in the hostel and may retire to bed any time after 11:00pm
  • Coach different team sports, such as football, basketball, Cricket etc.
  • Coaching at all levels of different age groups.
  • Chaperon school teams carefully to ensure all students are learning in a safe, constructive environment
  • You must have exemplary skills in communication and leadership, perform well under pressure, and have the experience and confidence necessary in coaching a winning team.
  • Organize and Prepare materials/equipment for training and ensure students observe safety rules
  • Plan and prepare regular training for members of the school teams for competitions.
  • They must have knowledge in the different types of equipment used in sports, physical fitness, and safety rules.
  • Support other departmental or school activities/ programmes
  • High level of self-discipline is required.

Qualification, Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of University Degree in Physical & Health Education or Human Kinetics
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a related field

Job Title: Accounts Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Descriptions

  • As an Account Officer, you will be charged with the responsibility of maintaining the books of accounts and general ledger of the school.
  • Ensure accuracy and proper filing of the School’s tax returns and coordinate the financial and management reporting process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze and report on the School’s operating costs and expenditure and identify cost saving measures
  • Carry out financial analysis and evaluation of project costs of provide relevant information for management decision making
  • Perform General Ledger (GL) reconciliation including:
  • Reconcile the GL account on a periodic basis for completeness and accuracy, identify transaction and posting errors
  • Reconcile the GL with the bank statements on a regular basis, identify reconciling items and liaise with relevant personnel to ensure reconciling items are resolved
  • Reconcile the GL to the subsidiary ledgers and ensure that posting and transaction errors are identified and resolved on a timely basis
  • Perform all GL maintenance activities including GL period opening and closing
  • Reconcile the School’s cashbook to its statements.
  • Prepare the periodic (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual) financial statements (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statement etc.) for Atlantic Hall
  • Coordinate the interface with other departments to generate relevant and adequate data for developing management reports
  • Perform periodic (monthly and quarterly) closing activities as defined in the financial policies and ensure timely generation of periodic (weekly, monthly and quarterly) financial and management reports for use by management and the Board for strategic decision making
  • Computer accurately and file all applicable tax returns to ensure the School’s compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare periodic (fortnightly and monthly) cash forecasts for the School’s, in order to proactively manage cash flows and ensure availability of funds to meet daily operational requirements
  • Ensure that all incoming invoices are accurately logged into the financial system and payment to suppliers is made in line with the school’s expenditure policies
  • Reconcile vendor invoices and other supporting documents to the approved invoice schedule in order to establish completeness and validity of details
  • Prepare payment instruments (cheques / remittance advice), for appropriate authorization and dispatch duly authorized documents according
  • Ensure accurate reporting of daily cash management activities, including staff advance disbursement.
  • Ensure prompt tax payments at designated banks and obtain necessary receipts / documents for tax filing
  • Prepare / compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Head, Finance & Accounts
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Head, Finance & Accounts

Qualification, Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • First degree in Accounting or any other related discipline
  • Relevant professional qualifications (ACA, CIMA, CPA, ACCA) is mandatory
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of financial accounting, including local and international accounting financial reporting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Good knowledge of financial controls and systems including the use of accounting packages
  • Understanding of local tax regime & legislation and implications for the School
  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • High sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability

  • Must be proficient in the use of SAGE Evolution and Microsoft Office productivity tools.

 

Job Title: PHE Teacher/Swimming Coach

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • Interested member should be able to work with the vision and mission of the school in building all-round students’ athletes; psychologically, emotionally and academically thereby producing well-balanced students and developing concepts of goal attainment through hard work and self-discipline which enhance each pupil to develop their sporting skills, abilities and talents in a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • In charge of teaching PHE/Swimming lessons as required
  • Teaching swimming classes both practices and theory, for all students in and members of school teams.
  • Chaperon classes carefully to ensure all students are learning in a safe, constructive environment
  • Prepare materials for lessons and ensure students observe safety rules
  • Plan and prepare regular training for members of the school teams for competitions.
  • Supervise the activities of the lifeguards in preparation for your lesson
  • They must have exemplary skills in communication and leadership, perform well under pressure, and have the experience and confidence necessary in coaching a winning team
  • They must have knowledge in the different types of equipment used at the pool and safety rules.
  • Ability to coach other sports is added advantage
  • Work closely with your Line Manager.

  • Minimum of a University Degree in Physical & Health Education or Human Kinetics required
  • Current, valid teaching certification is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ secondary teaching experience preferred

Job Title: Female Resident Medical Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Descriptions

  • Diagnose and treat medical conditions, disorders, and diseases through the application of specialist medical skills and knowledge.
  • Manage the school clinic and ensure policies and procedures are followed, and standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake patient consultations and physical examinations
  • Conduct regular patient check-ups, diagnose any ailments, monitor and administer medication, Assess and plan treatment requirements and write reports and maintain records.
  • Promote whole school health education by conducting health talks and refresher training on First Aid/CPR/AED to certified members of staff
  • Conduct such special medical examinations on students as may be indicated or required after referrals by the classroom teacher, the school nurse, or the house parent.
  • Examine and/or approve annually all students participating in inter-house athletic activities and sea school before participation
  • Examine members of staff and new hires as required and provide report on their suitability for employment or continued employment
  • Work with the VP (Pastoral) on medical issues and public health information programs and procedures
  • Serve as a liaison with students private physicians as required
  • Assist in the development and implementation of medical practices and procedures in the School
  • Coordinate and manage testing of the school water system to ascertain quality and advise the school appropriately
  • Refer patients to specialists and consultants after giving first aid treatment.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned by the Vice Principal (Pastoral/Student Affairs).

Qualification, Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • Medical degree in Medicine from an accredited school and licensed to practice in Nigeria
  • Higher degree e.g. MPH, MHA will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience preferably in a school
  • Ability to work long hours, often under pressure
