Job Title: Senior Actuarial Supervisor

Key Result Areas
Consulting:

  • Provides general actuarial consulting services to project teams and other internal and external clients

Information Analysis:

  • Analyses data in area of expertise and draws conclusions from the analysis.
  • Translates actuarial data analysis and draws conclusions from output.

Actuarial Service Delivery:

  • Provides actuarial services to special project teams or ad hoc investigations
  • Reviews/performs technical actuarial work/calculations

Team Effectiveness:

  • Individually accountable for delivery  through efforts of others, for periods of up to 1 year.
  • Accountable for others’ time, task and output quality.
  • Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
  • Assists with the development and training of Actuarial support staff and Junior Actuaries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Actuary with minimum of 6 years actuarial exp or Actuarial student with min 14 actuarial credits and min. 6 yrs actuarial experience.

Job Title: Risk Specialist

Introduction

  • This role is individually accountable for assisting the BU in establishing and embedding a culture of compliance as well as ensuring that risk processes are implemented at BU level
  • The individually is accountable for achieving results through own efforts over periods of up to 3 months.

Description

  • Challenges risk management information received from reporting entities.
  • Assist with implementation of business risk strategy and policy
  • Ensures risk processes (risk assessment, identification, management, reporting and optimisation) are occuring at BU level.
  • Provides knowledge of systems/supporting guidance, procedures and assists the business in implementation of risk issues.
  • Provides oversight for risk management activities ensuring Group Risk Policy statements are met.
  • Ensures monthly risk control logs are updated and follows up with various Line Managers.
  • Provides assistance to business unit management where required to embed risk management & provide challenge where deemed appropriate.
  • Ensures that risk processes (risk assessment, identification, management, reporting & optimisation) are implemented.
  • Performs process risk assessments to provide assurance on the controls in operating procuderes and processes
  • Compiles monthly reports (standing reports) on issues identified and reports on actions taken to rectify the problem.
  • Facilitates and in appropriate circumstances partakes in, remedial actions developed by the BU to help eliminate risk events

  • Provides oversight for risk management activities, ensuring Group Risk Policy statements are met.
  • Provides support in carrying out risk related responsibilities.

Compliance:

  • Assess complaince  by the BU with applicable with Risk policy and facilitate means of the implementation of remediation of identified gaps
  • Reports risk event and compliance breaches on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Facilitates and in appropriate circumstances partakes in, remedial actions developed by the BU to help eliminate non compliance with risk policy suite

Reporting:

  • Ensures monthly risk control logs are updated and follows up with various Line Managers.
  • Compiles monthly reports (standing reports) on issues identified and reports on actions taken to rectify the problem.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3 – 4 years relevant experience in risk management / internal controls / actuarial science. Insurance experience would be an advantage
