Job Title: Asset Leader

Job Description

  • To manage and lead a multi disciplined Diaper team in order to achieve excellence in safety, quality, centre-lining, productivity, housekeeping, cost management, human resource and asset management

Safety:

  • To direct and maintain high level of safety and 5S housekeeping awareness through 100% employee participation and the development of sound safety programmes and maintenance of good working conditions, adherence to Organisation and Legal Safety rules and regulations.

Quality:

  • To ensure that quality and centerline culture is adopted, implemented and enforced and that quality systems are adhered and compliance is achieved by the shift teams.
  • Participate in quality review meetings. Maintain a “run to target” philosophy at all times.
  • Continuous monitoring of EWMA / quality charts results and coordinating of relevant corrective actions.
  • Assist in providing answers to customer quality complaints and providing action plans to prevent these from re-occurring.

Productivity:

  • Manage programmes which will ensure optimum performance in achieving targets and objectives in the areas of waste, output, machine delay/ efficiency and reliability.
  • Continual process optimisation in order to achieve the correct rate of operation, waste, delay and volume without compromising safety and quality.
  • Investigate and document all reasons for waste and delay and communicate any outstanding items with recommended action plans.
  • Control and continuously optimize all changeovers, ensuring they are performed using good run settings and best practices at all times.

Cost:

  • Manage departmental costs i.e. overtime, wages, salaries, operating and maintenance ensuring that they are in line with budgets
  • Ensure that Internal controls are adhered to and maintained as per the CFI’s guidelines and the maintenance of Code of Conduct.

Technical Development:

  • Manage the inspection and replacing of all wearing parts in accordance with the relevant PM schedules.
  • Assisting with the planning and set up of the machine for all product and process trials.
  • Provide technical information to the maintenance teams detailing work requests for planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Development of the team’s process knowledge on an ongoing basis through one on one coaching and employee assessments.
  • Ensuring the continuous optimisation of change-overs on machines.
  • Adhere and implement best practices on the machine.

Human Resources:

  • Provide coaching and development for teams and individual employees.
  • Identifies training needs and arranges on-the-job training, and the development of subordinates.
  • Attends to I.R. matters and conducts counselling sessions and take appropriate action and ensures that discipline is maintained at all times.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) in either Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Operations Management. A bachelors Degree in engineering would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience on high speed manufacturing equipment, of which at least 2 years must be at a supervisory level.
  • Previous knowledge of Diaper machines and an understanding of Kimberly-Clark’s Policies and Procedures would be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of I.R. and L.R.A. Practices and experience in leadership or supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
  • Has demonstrated good leadership qualities in line with K.C policies and practices.
  • Computer Literacy.

Job Title: MOP Operator

Job Description

  • Perform as part of the shift team to ensure that safety, quality, productivity and housekeeping are maintained to the required standards in an environment of continual improvement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Complies with all safety rules, procedures and works instructions.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and hygiene in the department and follow 5S Housekeeping principles.
  • Operate the MOP of the diaper machine to manufacture product according to specifications and to ensure quality compliance.
  • Communicates with the rest of the team on what they need to do in order to keep the machine running.
  • Operate the diaper machine at target speeds to achieve rate of operation targets. (MDH, Waste,Delay,Ti, Ci,ppm)
  • Controls the production process and correct the components phases to ensure product is produced within specification.
  • Takes and checks samples of product regularly to ensure quality product is being produced. Takes necessary action if product is out of specification.
  • Makes decisions on when to stop the machine when product is out of specification.
  • Enter data on PASS system continuously to monitor process and produce product within specification.
  • Capture causes and reasons for delay as accurately as possible to effectively use this information for analysis and decision making on corrective and preventative actions.
  • Perform modular process health checks in-line with centerlining guidelines.
  • Knows and actively participate in all work and repairs which are carried out in his/her sector by the support teams
  • Reports and informs team leader of the maintenance and improvement required of his sector.
  • During shift changes, communicates to the incoming operator all new occurrences, repairs, process changes and materials issues.

Qualifications

  • National Diploma (ND) / C&G 1 / Trade Test Grade 3 qualification in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on high-speed production equipment, of which at least 2 years must be process experience.
  • Prior high-speed production machine maintenance or operating experience, especially on Diaper machines will be advantageous.
  • Computer Literate.

Job Title: Shift Process Leader

Job Description

  • The Shift Process Leader leads the machine crew on shift in order to continuously meet and exceed throughput, quality and safety targets.

Safety:

  • Ensure compliance to all departmental and plant safety rules and regulations. All non-conformances should be dealt with immediately. All unresolved issues must be raised with Asset Leader.
  • Follow the correct work procedures and Process Instruction for all tasks performed. Carry out continual development of process optimization to ensure safety.

Quality:

  • Ensure all quality issues are reported and logged on the appropriate documentation.
  • Continuous monitoring of PASS / SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts results and coordinating of relevant corrective actions. Maintain a “Run to Target” philosophy at all times.
  • Ensure all process check sheets are completed.
  • Ensure that the right quality raw materials are supplied for production

Productivity:

  • Leads the crew that runs the machine in order to achieve the target throughput, yield, and uptime without compromising safety and quality.
  • Troubleshoots, fix and documents all reasons for waste and delay during the shift in the shift log book. Communicate any outstanding items with recommended action plans.
  • Participates in all changeovers, ensuring they are performed using good run settings and best practices at all times.
  • Chairs team meetings to review issues and problems affecting production and set targets for the shift.

Housekeeping:

  • Maintain 5S housekeeping principles in the department at all times, including all equipment and surroundings. Ensure all unused items are removed from the operating area and stored correctly.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and tidy at shift change, handover with the oncoming process leader giving detailed information of machine status.
  • Ensures that his crew has housekeeping checklists all the time and that the checks are completed.

Human Resources:

  • Lead and control the operating team on shift to achieve objectives.
  • Identify areas of development required for team members to improve individual and team performance.
  • Ensure that all departmental guidelines are adhered to by the team. Inform the Asset Leader of any non-conformances immediately including performance and disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct performance management activities for his crew members.
  • Coach and train operators in their respective positions.

Technical Development:

  • Assist with the planning and set up of the machine for all product and process trials.

  • Prior high-speed production machine maintenance or operating experience, especially on Diaper machines will be advantageous.
