Job Title: Commodity Tracking System (CTS) Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

The Position

  • The key responsibilities of the Commodity Tracking System (CTS) Officer would be performed under the supervision of the Food Security Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support the implementation of UN-WFP unconditional resource transfer (URT) by DRC.
  • Ensure collection of data on the impact of socio-economic, political and cultural trends on concerned food assistance programme.
  • Establishment of good communication with WFP on commodity tracking, and to effectively identify the necessary requirements for a commodity management system for WFP food basket.
  • Ensure timely consolidation of beneficiaries’ data, physical confirmation of the quality of commodity at point of reception and maintenance of WFP commodity inventory for all DRC locations.
  • Request and follow-ups of food dispatch and receipts documents are completed and archived in compliance with DRC standards.
  • Training of field and warehouse staff on commodity tracking and ensure proper analysis of commodity report from the field and Warehouse staffs.
  • Identification of issues concerning stock storage, movement, monitoring, tracking and to set up an appropriate system for maintaining accuracy, strong control over commodity receipt, waybills distribution and establishment of a system to submit timely and accurate reports to WFP/ Donors to minimize losses.
  • Implementation of WFP and DRC policy on food commodity logistics.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly plans/reporting of stock balance, stock receipt, waybills and timely reporting to the Food Security Manager and WFP.
  • Communicate, exchange information and co-operate with relevant internal staffs and Food Security Manager and Team leaders.
  • Maintain detailed and safekeeping of all stock transactions with WFP, and any other duties as assigned by the Food Security Manager and Team leaders.

Relationships

  • External: Build strong relationships with donors, partners, networks, and stakeholders.
  • Internal: Establish a strong working relationship with the Food Security Manager, Team leaders, logistics, MEAL and finance units and other relevant persons.
  • Make decisions on tracking food commodities and food supplements effectively and ensure accurate and timely reporting to DRC and donors.
  • Ensure proper handling of food commodities and food supplements to avoid damage and/or spoilage.
  • Ensure timely submission of waybills, CPDRs and waybills to DRC and donors.
  • Also providing technical input on distribution and reporting of food security activities. Makes decisions around project proposals, ensuring they are prepared and comply with reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant higher education at the College level in Information Technology, Agriculture, Food Science, Nutrition and/Health or related.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in a humanitarian/recovery context within the food security and nutrition programmes, preferably with an international NGO.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish an effective working relationship with staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve results.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to work in a variety of environments and in remote locations without communication or amenities.
  • Remains productive when under pressure with the ability to prioritize effectively, and respects and adheres to deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Familiar with FSL context in Northeast Nigeria.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Hausa and English language.

IT Competency Required:

  • Competency in Kanuri and/or other local languages appropriate to the target population.

Job Title: Ad Interim Finance Coordinator

Location: Yola, Adamawa

About the Job

  • Under the supervision of Acting Head of Support Services (HoSS) the temporary surge support Finance Coordinator will ensure immediate technical finance support to DRC Nigeria
  • The requirement is due to the go-live activities related to DRC Dynamics ERP application that will create additional workload for the regular team
  • The post will support Acting HoSS by managing some aspects of donor reporting, audit requirements and normal operational activities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide technical supervision to the Finance Team spread in between different geographical locations
  • Support timely delivery of quality financial reports in accordance with the donor portfolio / rolling action plan
  • Support thorough and effective budgetary control in the country programs
  • Conduct required meetings with project managers to discuss key financial issues are identified and any remedial action that is required
  • Support the development of proposals with regards to budgeting (if required – no upcoming proposals envisaged)
  • Liaise with different internal and external stakeholders for finance matters at country, regional and HQ level

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of international practical experience in a senior financial management position
  • Working experience with relevant donors (e.g. UNHCR, ECHO, OFDA, WFP, DFID or BPRM guidelines)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Proven experience in managing large budgets
  • Competence in providing technical guidance and training]

Desirable:

  • Prior knowledge of an ERP type financial accounting application would be helpful (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or equivalent)
