Basic Rights Watch is a Nigeria based non-profit that seeks to promote and ensure transparency, accountability and civic engagement in federal universities capital spending (Transparency Alert Program (TA), as well as advocate for governmental intervention in local communities to address their core urgent capital needs (Tracking Needs Program (TN). It focuses on promoting open financial government, eradicating extreme poverty, improving participatory budgetary processes and promoting human rights.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Intern (NYSC) – Communications

Location: Abuja

Job Description

  • Enthusiastically support the team by writing and editing of company communication, including but not limited to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, media releases, internal and external communications and marketing materials
  • Act as a liaison across all departments to ensure information is communicated accurately and through the appropriate channels
  • Assist in the launch of our new website including copy editing and design input
  • Proactively pitch story ideas, public relations opportunities, and fresh content/concepts to further engage social media channels
  • Meticulously maintain media monitoring and monthly data input
  • Be involved with the management of our social media channels
  • Be conscious of brand standards and guidelines and incorporate them into everything that you do
  • Enjoy staying on top of current events and researching industry trends so that you can incorporate it into your work
  • Take the lead on refreshing our Money on Trees financial literacy program, which will include developing and expanding tools and resources while developing new tactics to engage the community, partners, members and non-members of all demographics
  • Be actively involved in the coordination and execution of meetings, media relations activities and community events
  • Get creative when you craft and edit engaging content for various channels, and support the design and layout of the annual calendar, quarterly newsletters and various PowerPoint presentations
  • Methodically maintain the website content and ensure that contact information, photos, rates, products and services are up-to date and relevant
  • Perform other administrative duties as we may need you to do.
