Job Title: Senior Mechanical Supervisor

Location: Nigeria
Reports To: Drilling Project Manager (DPM)

Purpose of Job

  • The Senior Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of all equipment as well as the associated upkeep of the records and repair history and compliance with company policies
  • They are responsible for the health and safety of all persons under their authority.

Area(s) of Responsibility

  • All equipment and systems on the rig.
  • Rig structure and integrity
  • Compliance with Class and Company requirements for repairs and upkeep or at associated records.

Supervises:

  • All Rig based maintenance teams.

Key Tasks

  • Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Company policy
  • Ensure that all Third Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Company and installation Safety Procedures
  • Monitor any rig equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for use with in the areas desired
  • Ensure that all equipment, including tools and instruments under his control complies with statutory requirements, and that it is maintained at all times in a safe condition or assure that it otherwise is completely withdrawn from service, including tools and instruments in their care
  • Operations and maintenance of main power systems all auxiliary and associated control systems on the unit
  • The detection of machinery malfunction, location of faults to prevent or minimize damage
  • Operation and maintenance of systems for fire prevention, detection and execution
  • The maintenance of survival craft and launching appliances Ensure compliance with all statutory pollution prevention procedures
  • Plan maintenance and repair tasks so as to minimize the effect on the drilling operation
  • To ensure that operational management is made aware of any maintenance schedules that are deferred, the reasons why end the potential consequences
  • Supervise the order, cleanliness and housekeeping at all relevant work sites and around all rig equipment
  • To provide marked up updates or modify any drawings, sketches or information on existing and replacement equipment as required
  • Report any misuse of equipment to the Drilling Project Manager
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of spare pants is maintained on the Installation and is stored in environmentally sound conditions
  • Check materials offloaded and complete manifests and requisitions for electrical equipment
  • Carry out and record the maintenance tasks specified by the computerised maintenance
  • Ensure that all the Company’s reporting system data sheets are completed e.g. Maintenance tasks and Corrective Work Orders
  • Ensure that the maintenance section in the Enhanced Drilling Reporting System is updated on a daily basis
  • Recommend and when required adhere to the modifications to equipment process or systems to enhance safety, improve rig performance or comply with statutory notices
  • To ensure representatives of certifying authorities on inspections of the installation are accompanied as required.

Primary Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:

Job Title: Assistant Drilling Project Manager (ADPM)

Reports To: Drilling Project Manager (DPM)

Purpose of Job

  • The Assistant Drilling Project Manager is assisting the Drilling Project Manager with the responsibility for the safe, economic and efficient operation of the rig and camp Iin accordance with KCA Deutag (Company) Business Managements Systems (EMS), Clients’ standards and Country laws
  • The Assistant Drilling Manager will take over the responsibility and duties, whenever the Drilling Project Manager is not available.

Area(s) of Responsibility

  • To demonstrate and promote safety leadership
  • To plan and manage the activities of the drilling crews such that drilling operations are conducted:
    • Safely, efficiently and effectively
    • In accordance with KCA Deutag and Operator’s policies and to the highest standards of international good oilfield practice
    • In conformance with applicable legislation and standards
    • To work with the Operator’s representatives and those of other contractors on site to optimize the use of resources, achieve cohesion of the inputs to drilling operations and to create a spirit of cross-company team work

Requirements
Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years proven experience working in a similar position in the drilling industry. international experience is an advantage.

Additional Qualifications:

  • It is needed that the Assistant Drilling Project Manager is able to support and troubleshoot on all Bentec Control systems as Mud pumps, SCR, Top Drives and Draw-works.
  • The DPM must have a minimum working experience of 3-5 years working with Bentec control system.

Job Title: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) Engineer

Location: Nigeria
Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent

Purpose of Job

  • The High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) engineer is responsible for the provision of discipline engineering staff, resources and technology in a manner, which promotes excellence of performance for both the individuals concerned and the Company.
  • Maintain Technical Assurance of the discipline output in all areas of the Company’s activities worldwide

  • Maintenance personal on Drilling Rigs

Key Tasks

  • Manage the operations assigned to them and ensure that they meet contractual quality and performance criteria.
  • Supervise those to whom they delegate responsibility, and to ensure the effective operational supporting services under their control or provided by departments within the Company.
  • Ensure that all well programmes are executed properly, efficiently, safety and in accordance with Company, Client and relevant Country regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaise at all times with their Operations Managers on all key issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Conduct technical appraisals of drilling and workover programmes, ensuring that any improvements, concerns or remedial actions required, are brought to the attention of the client
  • Provide advice and guidance to their Toot pushers.
  • Ensure that critical performance evaluations of specialist sub-contractor a are conducted and findings reported to the Operations Manager and client.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of all problem events including accidents/incidents.
  • Take an active role in pre-spud and end-of-well meetings, (if applicable) ensuring that complete reporting is undertaken and mat all teaming points are brought to the attention of the Operations Manager and the client.
  • Ensure the Rig is maintained in accordance with Company and Industry standards and that all mandatory and other Operating Certificates are maintained up to date.
  • Advice management on matters affecting the interpretation of the contracts affecting Rigs under their control and to deal with day-to-day contractual matters as directed.
  • Review tire performance evaluation of the personnel on the rig in terms of contracted requirements.
  • Liaise and support the Toot pusher in terms of human resource utilisation and development Initiate investigations and remedial actions on equipment, structural or system failures affecting the Rigs under his authority.
  • Ensure the timely requisition of all materials, equipment and services to the correct specification for the execution of well operations.
  • Ensure control and effective tracking of Company moveable assets assigned to the Rig(s).

  • Take responsibility for all HR matters at rig site, including training and development of expatriate and national staff in the rig crews, particularly with regards to on the job training
  • Maintain the validity of personal certification and training together with that for the rig crews
  • Ensure that incident reports are filled out in detail and in a timely manner in the event of an incident, illness, near miss, equipment damage or environmental spill
  • Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, KCA Deutag permit to work system
  • Ensure all daily / monthly approval sheets and reimbursable sheets are prepared and agreed with the client representative on site, immediately after the service is done
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory pollution prevention procedures
  • Plan maintenance and repair tasks so as to minimize the effect on the drilling operation
  • Supervise the order, cleanliness and housekeeping at all relevant work sites and around all rig equipment
  • Ensure that ean adequate supply of spare parts is maintained on the installation and stored in environmentally sound conditions
  • Ensure that all sections of the Enhanced Drilling Reporting System (EDRS) are updated on a dally basis
  • To ensure representatives of certifying authorities on inspections of the installation are accompanied as required.

Primary Responsibilities
Safety:

  • Safety is a line responsibility. Each individual member of the company should be aware of his responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area
  • Apply Company safety regulations at all times
  • Report to the Line Supervisor all the potential hazards and abnormal situations
  • Obtain the necessary safety clearance for the nature / type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (i.e. Work Permit).
  • Explain to the persons concerned the visible and hidden hazards involved in the jobs. (Job Safety Analysis / Pre job meeting)
  • Instruct his personnel before commencing the work to the safety precautions and measures to be observed at work (tool box meetings)
  • Investigate and report near misses and correct them immediately
  • Promptly report to line management any violation of safety regulations by the personnel, even if this violation has not resulted in an accident,

Financial:

  • To have good understanding of budgets and demonstrate an awareness to stay in the budget.

Systems and Processes:

  • Comply with the Permit to Work systems in operation on the rig and Base
  • Consult KOMS before the execution of each job to assure the latest standards is in place
  • Assure that all rig specific work instructions are available on site
  • Assure rig move plans and equipment load lists are available before starting of a rig move
  • Assure the EDRS is correct and up to date.

People:

  • Ensure that all subordinates have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out
  • Ensure that health and safety at work and accident prevention are continuously brought to the attention of all employees under his authority by means of job supervision, instruction and training
  • Assure that all subordinates under his command are appraised yearly on a fair basis.
  • Assure that all subordinates are trained to but not limited to companies’ minimum training standard.

Quality:

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant Group management systems and where applicable client procedures.

Requirements
Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years proven experience working in a similar position in the drilling industry
  • International experience is an added advantage.

Additional Qualifications:

  • It is needed that the Drilling Project Manager is able to trouble shoot on all Bentec Control systems as Mud pumps, SCR, Top Drives and Draw-works
  • The DPM must have a minimum working experience of 5 years working with the control system
  • Able to read and write the German language fluently to be able to trouble shoot with the Bad Bentheim (German) Engineers.

Job Title: TDS Software Engineer

Location: Nigeria
Reports To: Maintenance Superintendent

Purpose of Job

  • The TDS Software Engineer is responsible for the provision of discipline engineering staff, resources and technology in a manner, which promotes excellence of performance for both the individuals concerned and the Company.
  • Maintain Technical Assurance of the discipline output in all areas of the Company’s activities worldwide.

Area(s) of Responsibility

  • All equipment and systems on the rig.
  • Rig structure and integrity.
  • Compliance with Class end Company requirements for repairs and upkeep or all associated records.

Supervise:

  • Maintenance personal on Drilling Rigs

Key Tasks

  • Manage the operations assigned to them and ensure that they meet contractual quality and performance criteria.
  • Supervise those to whom they delegate responsibility, and to ensure the effective operation of supporting services under their control or provided by departments within the Company.
  • Ensure that all well programmes are executed properly, efficiently, safety and in accordance with Company, Client and relevant Country regulations and guidelines.
  • Liaise at all times with their Operations Managers on all key issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Conduct technical appraisals of drilling and workover programmes, ensuring that any improvements, concerns or remedial actions required, are brought to the attention of the client.
  • Provide advice and guidance to their Drilling Project Managers.
  • Ensure that critical performance evaluations of specialist sub-contractors are conducted and findings reported to the Operations Manager and client.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of all problems including accidents/incidents.
  • Take an active role in pre-spud and end-of-well meetings, (if applicable) ensuring that complete reporting is undertaken and that all learning points are brought to the attention the Operations Manager and the client.
  • Ensure the Rig is maintained in accordance with Company and Industry standards end that all mandatory and other Operating Certificates are maintained up to date.
  • Advice management on matters affecting the interpretation of the contracts affecting Rigs under their control and to deal with day-to-day contractual matters as directed.
  • Review the performance evaluation of the personnel on the, rig in terms of contracted requirements.
  • Liaise and support the Drilling Project M in terms of human resource utilisation and development.
  • Initiate investigations and remedial actions on equipment, structural or system failures affecting the Rigs under his authority.
  • Ensure, the timely requisition of alI materials, equipment and services to the correct specification for the execution of well operations.
  • Ensure control and effective tracking of Company moveable assets assigned to the Rig(s).

Primary Responsibilities
Technical Assurance:

  • Support projects by provision of competent personnel as required.
  • Maintain an overview of the discipline development requirements to meet Company needs.
  • Establish discipline procedures, control systems and guidelines to comply with Company Safety Management System and Legislation.
  • Arrange with Project Managers for Discipline Technical Audits of Projects with the following objectives:
  • Assist projects in maintaining appropriate professional standards for project execution, Confirm that technical work undertaken is consistent with the Disciplines professional standards for the relevant project’s technical complexity and commercial liability.
  • Ensure that the project-generated documentation reflects a fit-for-purpose design and complies with the contract requirements.
  • Establish discipline performance measures and monitoring requirements with projects. Promote awareness of Health. Safety, Environmental & Quality aspects of discipline work to achieve fit-for-purpose engineering.

Safety:

  • Demonstration of safe approach in design and working practices, following the objectives of RDS Health, Safety and Environmental Plans.
  • Encouragement of attention to safety in personnel under the Chief Electrical Engineer’s control

Financial:

  • Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the KCA DEUTAG / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit-for-purpose solutions.

Business Development:

  • Use of opportunities at meetings with Clients, Vendors etc. to learn of additional work which KCADEUTAG could undertake, and to promote KCA DEUTAG’s capabilities.
