Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • Our client seeks to engage the services of a Quantity Surveyor. The QS prepare estimates, costs and valuation of work done per project
  • He/She is responsible in managing the cost profile relating to building and civil engineering projects
  • QS minimizes the costs of projects and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client.
  • Undertake costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
  • Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Perform risk and value management and cost control.
  • Advise on procurement strategy.
  • Identify, analyze and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Prepare and analyze costings for tenders.
  • Provide insight on contractual claims.
  • Analyze outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
  • Value completed work and liaise with the Finance to arrange payments.
  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Provide insight and advise on maintenance costs of specific buildings.
  • Carry out frequent studies and reference on other project cases to solve any problems that occur in the field.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by Head, Commercial.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying (2.1).
  • Professional membership
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the Construction Industry
  • Working knowledge, skills and competencies and attributes
  • Practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking.
  • A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans.
  • Strong numeracy skills and the ability to learn design and costing IT packages.

Job Title: Technical Procurement Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • We are looking to engage a competent and experienced Technical Procurement Officer.
  • He/she will be responsible for processing purchasing transactions for equipment, materials, capital goods, and services for the company’s plant & equipment unit without compromising quality and safety.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requisitions from sites and office workshop
  • Ensures the timely delivery of materials and equipment at the lowest possible cost
  • Participates in the selection of suppliers based on capacity and other criteria
  • Conducts a comparative analysis on supplier prices
  • Reviews and evaluates the performance of the suppliers
  • Processes the necessary retirement/clearance documents within 72hours after completion of transaction
  • Locate vendors of spare parts and Equipment and interview them in order to determine products availability and terms of sales
  • Carries out all necessary procurement activities
  • Verifies that the required order value is within the agreed budget
  • Coordinates with the Dispatch Officer when processing small orders
  • Submits final invoices to the Finance and Accounts Department within 72hours after completion of transaction
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Submit regular reports of market survey and weekly reports on pending requests per site to Head, Supply Chain Management
  • Maintain knowledge of all organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases and provide information about these rules to organization staff members and to vendors.
  • Perform any other duty as directed by Head, Supply Chain Management

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Total cost savings on items per project
  • Quality of materials procured for sites and workshop must conform with required specifications
  • Speed of processing requests (72hours maximum turnaround time for processing request) and providing feedback to requester.
  • Ensuring that only pre-qualified and approved vendors are dealt with
  • Evidence of increase in credit lines with at least two (2) vendors per year
  • Ensure that price analysis of at least 3quotations from OEMs and distributors is used for all purchases except where impossible
  • Submission of weekly report to Head, SCM stating the request date, order date and status for all requests. Metrics: Every Friday of the week.
  • Ensure that vendors invoices are processed and handed over to finance within 72hours of receipt-zero tolerance for late processing of vendor’s invoice
  • 100% compliance to ISO Procurement Processes
  • Timely retirement of completed transactions to accounts within 72hours -Zero tolerance for delay.

Job Title: QA / QC Engineer

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • Our client is seeking for a competent and experienced  QA/QC Engineer
  • The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for assuring that the quality of the work meets or exceeds the project’s contractual requirements, and maintains the standard of excellence established
  • He/She is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the quality management system.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop method statements for the construction activities including risk assessment and job hazard analysis with the site HSE Officer
  • Develop and implement project quality plan (QP), inspection & test plan (ITP), and checklists based on the contract requirements
  • Interpret client’s specifications, applicable international codes and standards to ensure that all workers / supervisors are carrying out their jobs in line with International best practices
  • Carry out inspection, check all quality related tasks on site and ensure activities are as per approved method statements / work procedures and inspection test plans
  • Ensure compliance to construction drawings and specifications.
  • Responsible for the quality and workmanship of every activity involving multidisciplinary operations (Civil, Architectural and Structural discipline).
  • Coordinate with the sub-contractors / suppliers for material sampling, testing, technical submittals and reviews with the QA/QC Manager
  • Inspect calibrations of measurement instruments, testing equipment and review of related certifications
  • Issue relevant quality records and when necessary, write and send non-conformance reports to QA/QC Manager.
  • Maintain all QA/QC records of the entire project including material receipt inspection, checklists, work approvals, mill certificates, calibration certificates, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports, site instruction/observations etc.
  • Prepare concrete mix design document in accordance with the project specifications and ensure compliance.
  • Review of sub-contractor’s or supplier’s documents prior to submission to QA/QC Manager for final verification with respect to Clients Specifications and International Standards
  • Carry out materials receiving / visual inspections as required, data collation and analysis
  • Review and manage documents certifying tests, controls and inspections carried out
  • Witness laboratory tests and ensure compliance with approved procedures and specifications
  • Attend safety, quality and weekly progress review or coordination meetings
  • Prepare site daily and weekly QC reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor (or HND) in Engineering, Civil, Building (Minimum of 2nd Class Upper
  • 4-8 years’ experience in a Civil Construction/Building projects
  • ISO 9001:2015 QMS Auditor
  • Working knowledge, skills and competencies and attributes
  • Strong working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical and electrical work;
  • Strong knowledge of the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules;
  • Good understanding of project change administration and the effect of the quality aspects of the project;
  • Solid understanding of means and methods of construction for civil project work and/or the renovation of commercial and industrial facilities;
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio and Project)
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, site staff, consultants and client’s representatives.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage inspection staff and inspection and testing subcontractors.
  • Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
