We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: ICU Nurse Manager

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • The ICU Nurse Manager is responsible for the provision of efficient and effective operating services that achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • The ICU Nurse Manager is required to plan, analyze, design, monitor and provide advice on nursing issuesand models of care to ensure innovative, effective and efficient service delivery in collaboration with management.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work in close collaboration with medical and nursing staff to ensure timely, quality and appropriate services to patients and provide leadership in complex patient situations.
  • Actively monitor and ensure timely flow of patients from admission through to transfer or discharge.
  • Encourage an environment of self-accountability and responsibility for effective clinical decision making and patient outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain key communication links within ICU and across the wider organization.
  • Act as an effective role model by demonstrating high level of clinical competence and judgment and provide direct clinical care as required.
  • Promote and ensure infection control standards are maintained.
  • Actively manage clinical risk, informs the Director of Clinical Services of incidents and contribute to quality and risk planning activities.
  • Maintain quality standards to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Lead practice development and change management initiatives that affect patient and organizational outcomes.
  • Ensure increased patient safety and to improve outcomes in terms of morbidity, mortality, and length of stay.
  • Monitor catheters, leads and tubing for proper placement and functioning.
  • Provide support, empathy, tender, quality and reassurance in the delivery of patient care.
  • Ensure that all ICU procedures are done safely and competently and ensuring responsible and effective use of ICU resources.
  • Respond to emergency/life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
  • Ensure that patients’ records are inputted correctly on the EMR and ensuring the strictest confidentiality of patients’ information.
  • Attend to enquiries and complaints from both internal stakeholders; patients, relatives, staff or management and external stakeholders in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Prepare and administer medication; orally, subcutaneously, or through an IV and records prescribed medications.
  • Perform or assist others to perform proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Science or Healthcare Administration
  • RN and RM, Nursing practice license with 4-6 years’ experience as a Staff/ICU Nurse
  • Ability to utilize various Microsoft Office applications/software
  • Primary Focus on Customer Service
  • Extensive experience in ICU in a hospital setting
  • Experience and commitment to clinical teaching

Job Title: ICU Nurse

Location: Surulere, Lagos

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • The ICU nurse is primarily responsible for providing safe, effective, efficient care environment for patients, as well as quality and standard care to acutely and critically ill patients.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensures increased patient safety and to improve outcomes in terms of morbidity, mortality, and length of stay.
  • Provides basic, bedside care.
  • Monitors catheters, leads and tubing for proper placement and functioning.
  • Promoting high quality outcomes for patients and consistently demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with other staff and patients and sensitively handling problems.
  • Provides support, empathy, tender, quality and reassurance in the delivery of patient care.
  • Ensures that all ICU procedures are done safely and competently and ensuring responsible and effective use of ICU resources.
  • Respond to emergency/life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
  • Ensuring that patients’ records are inputted correctly on the EMR and ensuring the strictest confidentiality of patients’ information.
  • Attend to enquiries and complaints from both internal stakeholders; patients, relatives, staff or management and external stakeholders in an appropriate and timely manner.

  • Review patient’s progress and notify appropriate nursing and medical staff to changes in the patient’s status.
  • Initiate patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation.
  • Monitor and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays, such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, manometers, oxygen pumps, etc.
  • Achieve a balance between the demands of direct patient care within existing resources.
  • Provide assistance to the doctor or other medical personnel in the assessment of patients and delivery of treatments, such as dressing wounds, and monitors the life support equipment that patients use.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and methods of implementation.
  • Incorporate clinical and technical aspects of care with nursing actions and interventions in accordance with established policies, standards and procedures.

Job Title: Anesthetic Nurse

Location: Lagos

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • The Anesthetic Nurse is responsible for ensuring the safe administration of anesthesia as well as providing pain management, stabilization services, and overseeing patients’ recovery.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and preparing patients, providing education about surgery and recovery, and discussing the side effects of anesthesia with them as well as examining patients’ histories for allergies or illnesses that would affect anesthesia.
  • Determine the amount and type of anesthesia needed for a patient and the best way to administer it.
  • Evaluate patients’ post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur.
  • Monitor patients’ responses, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration, ventilation, or urine output, using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Insert arterial catheters or perform arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples.
  • Checking of anesthetic equipment, machines, suction apparatus and other relevant equipment.
  • Setting up of invasive lines for monitoring of patients undergoing major surgery.
  • Checking and recording of drugs issued, drugs used and drugs returned.
  • Cleaning of equipment and supply.
  • Prepare of the theatre for the next patient.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science or Healthcare Administration
  • RN and RM, Nursing practice license with 1-3 years’ experience as a Staff Nurse
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Ability to utilize various Microsoft Office applications/software and EMR usage
  • Primary Focus on Customer Service
  • Extensive experience in ICU in a hospital setting

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in checking all vital parameters of patients such as, body temperature, respiratory rate, surgery portion of the body, pulse rate, blood pressure of the body and likewise.
  • Well trained in post-anaesthesia care and post-surgical care provided to the patients.
  • Proficiency in pain medication techniques.
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality patient care through effective team working
