Youth entrepreneurship is an important avenue through which to create jobs for youth and stimulate the economy through micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSME). It is also a critical area in which investment could yield good returns in terms of the number of jobs that can be created within a short period of time. Although the understanding of entrepreneurship being an alternative pathway to employment has been promoted in Nigeria recent years, it remains largely untapped and underdeveloped. In part, the limited scope of youth entrepreneurship is attributed to a number of different challenges, of which the lack of entrepreneurship skills is a major component. A lack of skills on how to start and manage a business enterprise is often an impediment to successful start ups even when adequate finance may be available.
