Job Title: Category Manager – Cosmetics

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Summary

  • A category manager with extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment
  • Must possess a commercial mindset and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles
  • Responsible for the pricing and overall promotion of the company’s cosmetics product category to maximize consumer appeal, deepening relationships with vendors, making decisions about which products to sell, assisting with marketing and promotion, overseeing inventory, and managing a cross-functional team

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly analyze customer requirements in the store to target buying habits and develop product promotional strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
  • Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
  • Liaise with the sales team to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
  • Head product innovation- Decode Consumer Insights & anticipate trends to breakthrough products.
  • Follow up on the entire product development process
  • Assist in developing presentations that highlight category performance and identify key growth opportunities
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure analysis and communication is consistent with company expectations and strategy
  • Guide, supervise and implement marketing mix for category product launches
  • Monitor the sales and servicing of all our cosmetics customers in the open and modern markets.
  • Drive product visibility and communication across all channels
  • Attend industry events and trade shows for promoting company products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competition market Intelligence, analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends, and advise on new product categories
  • Monitor Performance, develop, and execute category plans to meet revenue goals.
  • Make forecasts for product demand, manage inventory levels to maximize sales.
  • Make changes to the product line to increase the profit margin.
  • Ensure development of expertise and know-how in the team

Qualification and Experience

  • Proven experience as a category manager or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • BSc / HND in Business Administration, Marketing or related field
  • MBA will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience

Job Title: Regional Sales Manager

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary

  • Overall responsibility for achieving or exceeding the sales and distribution objectives in the respective region to ensure the achievement of the company’s business objectives and strategy
  • Oversees the daily operations of the region including inventory and resources management, personnel, sales, and finances
  • The candidate also maintains good relations with local civic leaders, patrons, and boards, keeping the company image at a high level in the community?

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and achieve or exceed the sales volume/revenue goals targets as defined in the business plan for the sales channels
  • Control/monitor the sales budget to ensure optimum allocation of resources to different businesses of the company
  • Collaborate with senior executives to establish and execute a sales goal for the region
  • Manage a sales team to maximize sales revenue and meet or exceed corporate set goals
  • Educate sales team with presentations of strategies, seminars and regular meetings
  • Coordinate with the marketing division to ensure marketing tools are provided to the trade to increase brand visibility and achieve business objectives
  • Coordinate with the human resources and the line managers to efficiently implement HR initiatives so as to motivate and lead a high-performance team
  • Check individual performances of the sales team and motivate them, either through personal counseling and/or imparting training in tactical selling skills to improve and enhance their capabilities and sales performance
  • Conduct regular market visits to check route coverage and availability of company products in the market, competitor’s activities and look for new business opportunities in order to safeguard the customer base and increase market share
  • Develop and maintain an efficient distribution network and efficient routing to ensure timely deliveries and superior levels of service to company customers
  • Co-ordinate with finance & accounts to ensure compliance with all financial norms to control collections and receivables
  • Coordinate the execution of marketing & promotional activities in the marketplace to derive the maximum benefit out of such promotional initiatives and analyze the impact of such promotions
  • Review regional expenses and recommend improvements
  • Be responsible for all environmental and safety compliance at branch locations
  • Maintain good relations with local civic leaders, patrons and board
  • Keep the company image at a high level in the community
  • Supervise truck and equipment maintenance and routes
  • Be responsible for the management of branch merchandise
  • Build relationships with service providers and customers
  • Deal with customer queries and complaints
  • Liaise with head office and conduct weekly regional meetings

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in any discipline, MBA will be an added advantage
  • At least 10 – 12 industry experience across different verticals including FMCG, food and beverage, wine and spirit
  • Experience in sales and marketing of FMCG products, open, modern, and on-trade distribution channels
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing profitable sales and marketing strategies
  • Experience in diverse business functions including business development, marketing and performance management
  • Experience in stakeholder negotiations
