West African Soy Industries Limited operates one of the largest specialized oils and fats processing complexes in Africa. The manufacturing facility is located in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria, with raw materials sourced from farmers in Kaduna, Katsina, Niger and other states across Nigeria. The Company is active in the Soy value chain through its out-grower farming activities by providing high quality agri-inputs to farmers and procuring farm produce from them through off-take arrangements. WASIL also educates the farmers on Yield Enhancement Techniques (YET) to improve their crop yield, and trains women on best practices in Shea collection and primary processing.

Job Title: Instrumentation Technician

Job Description

  • Ensure optimized equipment performance for all field instruments (Sensors, Transmitters, Flowmeter, Control Valves, etc.) Motors and Drives by maintaining and improving equipment, line electrical & automation controls.
  • Drive innovation and improvement.
  • Manage people and resources to ensure uncompromised safety, availability and quality and minimizing the impact of the activities on the environment.
  • Upskilling, training and development of electrical, Instrumentation and automation technicians.
  • Coordinate and ensure, when important, successful implementation of process optimization (modifications) projects becomes.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc or HND Electrical / Electronics
  • 3-5 years working experience in the field of Electrical & Automation Industries, Versatile with PLC systems (Siemen, Allen Bradley) VSD and VFD
  • Good knowledge of circuit troubleshooting via electrical diagrams, ladder Diagrams, pneumatic diagrams etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists
  • Strong electrical design and debugging skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to formulate and document a high-level plan with input from many functional groups.
  • Experience with embedded controllers, I/O handling systems and PLC’s
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests

Job Title: Fitter, Preparatory

Job Description

  • This position will support operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and optimizing manufacturing equipment including but not limited to fitting, plumbing, welding, heating/cooling, automation and fire protection systems in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the Chief Engineer at prep section.
  • This position creates value for the factory by performing preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their production and quality goals.

Duties

  • Identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems on plant facilities and production equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner,
  • Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to Maintenance Manager.
  • Performs pipe fitting of both threaded and welded pipe of various sizes,
  • Ensures that all work performed meets required codes and is in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves and aprons.
  • Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials and work area.
  • Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Be able and willing to work in non-ideal environments such as: confined spaces, working at heights, dusty/dirty and around chemicals.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in an Industrial Maintenance environment.

Job Title: Expeller / Oil Mill Operator

Job Description

  • Tend machine that flattens and dries oilseed, such as soybean and presses it to extract oil: Turns handwheels to adjust distance between rollers that flatten oilseed.
  • Starts rollers and turns gate valve to admit oilseed.
  • Observes rolling process to ensure that pressure of rollers on oilseed is not sufficient to extract oil.
  • Turns control of heat drier to specified temperature, and opens chute to admit flattened oilseed to drier.
  • Turns steam valves of heat cooker to cook dried oilseed.
  • Turns handwheels to adjust roller pressure of oil expeller.
  • Feels samples of expelled oilseed to determine that sufficient quantity of oil has been removed.
