Job Title: Team Member, Cost Management and Budget Control

Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Objective

  • Drive the translation of cost corporate strategy into action
  • Provide advisory support to business units on cost
  • Track and regularly report actual spent against budget
  • Advice management on necessary actions to save cost and achieve the expected target.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) – between 3 to 7, maximum 7 KRAs, with detailed descriptions under each of them

Main Outputs and Responsibilities
Group Budget design and review:

  • Weekly upload of budget limit for non-sales divisions and business offices.
  • Review of extra- budgetary expenditures requests 40%

MPR/Business Performance Analysis:

  • Monitoring and reporting on expense/cost lines.
  • Efficient and timely allocation of Head Office costs, through ABC allocation methodology plus periodic review of allocation parameters in line with changes in key cost drivers of the business before the release of the draft MPR.
  • Daily review of Group-wide specific expenses 40%.

Cost Reporting and Support:

  • Resolution of all issues relating to Expenses.
  • Provision of technical support to the GCOC, as well as the preparation of the quarterly reports
  • Providing automated detailed cost reports by expense type to ALL business and support groups in line with the KPI sets for MPR delivery
  • Management of the cost code system for monitoring and situating expense responsibility.
  • Generation/implementation of strategic cost saving initiatives
  • Management of the cost code system for monitoring and situating expense responsibility.
  • Preparation of Directorate/Divisional Cost Report
  • Cost review for UBA Africa
  • Cost code creation as required 20%.

Job Requirements
Education Requirements:

  • First Degree in any related field.
  • Possession of relevant masters degree/ Professional certification will be an added advantage.

Job Title: Team Member, Insurance

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Objective

  • Bank-wide insurance coverage of all bank assets insurable risks at optimal cost.
  • Prompt processing of insured risks claims.

Roles & Responsibilities
Insurance Underwriting:

  • Reviewing and updating Corporate Insurance Policies to reflect best practices & reduce cost.
  • Placing on cover (through the broker) of all assets and insurable risks.
  • Ensure all vehicles under the bank’s sinking fund scheme are promptly placed on 3rd party cover with the underwriters

Insurance Claim Processing:

  • Ensure all insured loss incidents are reported promptly to the underwriters through our brokers.
  • Ensure all documents required for successful insurance claims are obtained from relevant business offices and head office departments, reviewed and forwarded promptly to the lead underwriter through the insurance broker.

Insurance Administration:

  • Maintenance of insurance claims log – losses reported, claims pending full documentation, claims pending offer and discharged claims awaiting settlement by underwriters.
  • Liaise with brokers/ business offices/ head office departments to ensure loss adjusters receive the required cooperation and documents promptly.
  • Ensure outstanding offers and cheques are received promptly by ensuring broker follows up vigorously with the underwriters.
  • Monthly Reconciliation / Proofing of insurance GLs including reconciliation of sinking fund records with statements from the fund manager.
  • Processing of claims made under the Insurance sinking fund scheme (TAT is 5 days)  Maintenance of quality filling system and record keeping.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
