Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria
Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • Responsible for field operations relating to facilities maintenance works in the within the facility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordination of estate facility maintenance including landscaping and close out of all requests and defects within the estate
  • Supervise all ongoing structural projects, renovations or refurbishments within the plant and estate
  • Ensures that estate buildings and facilitates are safe and healthy for occupants.
  • Attend to repair and maintenance requests from staff
  • Manage contract administrator such as the Green facilities Limited.
  • Prepare daily maintenance tracking report
  • Provide comprehensive monthly reports on ongoing projects
  • Strictly follow up with the estate offices for prompt close out of maintenance request
  • Carry out daily inspection of entire estate premises, school areas and Advance camp and ensure daily observations are reported
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Facility and Administrative Manager.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or any other related field
  • Minimum of Five (5) years cognate experience in facility management
  • Good understanding of electrical, mechanical and automation systems
  • Relevant professional certification like PMP would be an added advantage

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good analytical skills

Job Title: Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Job Summary

  • Responsible for all corrective/preventive maintenance of all instrumentation and control and simulator related equipments

Job responsibilities

  • Ensure I&C Boiler instruments are maintained in a preventive manner to ensure reliability and up time.

  • Execute daily/weekly routine inspection of I&C equipment items to avoid emergency breakdown.

  • Eight (8) to Twelve (12) years experience in a similar role
  • Postgraduate degree or relevant professional qualification would be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to read and interpret P&I drawings
  • Understanding of simulator system, latest maintenance technologies and trends
  • Skillful in fault analysis, tracing and troubleshooting techniques
  • In- depth knowledge about power plant operation and emergencies.

Job Title: Senior Engineer (Power Transformer Maintenance)

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the maintenance and installation of transformers, mobile maintenance units, tools, and equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on maintenance solution
  • Maintenance of transformer and metering of electrical equipment
  • Supervise maintenance measures in electrical equipment and ensuring high quality of maintenance
  • Develop specifications for main power and auxiliary power transformers, translating turbine system requirements into hardware definition

  • Examines objects, systems, or facilities and analyzes information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs
  • Promotes safety and conducts oneself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times

  • Prepare periodic report for the attention of the Lead Engineers

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any relevant field
  • Eight (8) to Twelve (12) years’ experience with knowledge of maintenance and testing of transformer with a minimum of 15MVA capacity.
  • A post graduate degree or any relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of transformer installation and must have experienced the overhaul of transformer

Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical knowledge of electrical systems
  • Understanding of working of equipment and history of equipment
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to maintenance of main plant, transformers etc.
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution and breaker / fuse selection and coordination
  • Technical trouble shooting and ability to identify root cause of problems to avoid recurrence
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects of power generation
  • Knowledge of power generation process and commercial and tariff aspects

Job Title: Senior Engineer (Protection & Control)

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of various types of relays, motor protection coordination.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and operational support for the implementation and integration of control systems to ensure adequate and reliable operation
  • Provide engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production.
  • Provides electrical and controls support, to operations as needed; including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance (PM), changeover, modifications and repair of line equipment
  • Investigate production problems, diagnose faults and partner with maintenance to plan and organize equipment repairs to reduce downtime and outages.
  • Troubleshoots and accomplishes minor program changes in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
  • Work with team to develop the daily and weekly strategy based on priorities and the utilization of downtime studies and gap analysis for continuous improvement activities.
  • To maintain and update electrical schematics, engineering drawings for production, and technical documentation for new and existent equipment.
  • Follows current work instruction and ensures adherence to the Quality Control Plan and related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Performs Statistical Process Control Charting and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Maintenance and calibration of various types of relays, motor protection coordination
  • Provides onsite coordination and commissioning of protective relay equipment
  • Read and interpret Electrical circuit diagrams and resolve faults
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements
  • Support in planning resource requirements for electrical maintenance of electrical equipment.

Education and Work Experience

  • Eight (8) to Twelve (12) years’ relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any relevant field
  • A Postgraduate Degree and relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  •  Knowledge of relay testing, calibration, and coordination of motor protection
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance and power equipment
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to maintenance of main plant, transformers etc.
  • Technical trouble shooting and ability to identify root cause of problems to avoid recurrence
  • Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to apply Electrical codes and standards as it applies to the job
  • Knowledge of applicable standards such as CSA, ANSI, IEC and IEEE standards
  • Knowledge of power generation process and commercial and tariff aspects
  • Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spares inventory management
  • Excellent knowledge of modern digital protective relays in utility applications and experience calculating relay settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret Electrical circuit diagrams and ability to resolve faults.
