The Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu enabling act was enacted on 2nd August, 2006. The act provides details on the specific functions; management and other purposes connected therewith the school.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: School Librarian
Location: Burutu, Delta
Responsibilities
- Shall be responsible to the Rector for the administration of the School Library
- Shall administer efficient working of staff in the library; Assist in the development of library instruction programmes.
- Must have working knowledge and implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in library deliveries.
Qualification & Experience
- Candidates for the post of the School Librarian must hold a good Bachelor’s Degree with at least seventeen (17) years experience or a Master’s degree (M.L.S) from an NUC recognized institution of higher learning with fifteen (15) years cognate working experience in the academia (library) and must belong to recognized professional body (ies) relevant to library.
- Applicants should have spent not less than ten (10) years in the administration / management of library(s) domiciled in tertiary institution.
Job Title: Registrar
Location: Burutu, Delta
Responsibilities
- Shall be responsible to the Rector for the administration of the affairs of the school.
- He shall be secretary to the Council, the Academic Board and the Congregation and shall perform other duties as the Rector shall from time to time assign to him/her and as stated in the Law establishing the school.
Qualification & Experience
- Candidates for the post of Registrar must hold a good Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least seventeen (17) years cognate experience or a Master’s Degree with fifteen (15) years cognate experience or a Doctorate degree with twelve (12) years cognate experience from NUC recognized/approved institutions.
- Candidates should also possess sound administrative prowess and must belong to a relevant administrative/professional body(ies).
- Applicants should have spent not less than ten (10) years in the administration/ management of appropriate sections/units in a Registry department of a tertiary institution.
Job Title: Bursar
Location: Burutu, Delta
Responsibilities
- The Bursar shall be responsible to the Rector for the financial administration of the school.
- Shall possess managerial abilities integrity, honesty and transparency in public affairs.
- Shall be firm in implementation of financial regulations and adoption of contemporary accepted accounting and financial principles and regulations.
Qualification & Experience
- Candidates must possess a good honours Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields from a recognized Institution of Higher learning with at least seventeen (17) years cognate experience.
- Possession of a Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- Evidence of registration with a recognized professional accounting body.
- Candidates must have working experience in tertiary institution and must be computer literate.
Job Title: Rector
Location: Burutu, Delta
Overview
- This is the Chief Executive of the school and shall be responsible for the day to day administration of the affairs of the school.
- Candidates will be expected to provide academic and professional leadership in the execution of the guidelines laid down by the governing bodies.
- Other duties as specified in the law establishing the school.
Qualification & Experience
- Candidates should be persons of academic eminence of not below the status of Chief Lecturer in a polytechnic of at least five years experience or senior lecturer in a university.
- Candidates should be holders of Doctorate Degree from an NUC recognized /approved institution in a field relevant to at least one program in the school with at least fifteen (15) years teaching and applied research / industrial work experience or holders of Master’s Degree from an NUC recognized institution in relevant field in addition to having seventeen (17) years teaching / applied research / industrial work experience in an NUC recognized / approved institution.
- Candidates should be of exemplary character in honesty, moral rectitude as well as unassailable integrity.
- Demonstrate ability to move the institution forward
- Registration with a recognized professional body and must have experience in running a tertiary institution.
- Demonstrable ability to offer strong academic and administrative leadership, initiative and creativity in policy implementation, positive managerial attributes and good public relations
- Demonstrable ability to initiate and supervise applied research
- Candidates must have a sound and clear vision and mission for the institution for the five (5) years.
Terms Of Appointment
- The appointment of the Rector is for a single tenure of five (5) years only.
