Job Title: Technician (Mines)

Job Summary

  • To carry out all types of repairs (emergency/running) and daily/periodic preventive maintenance of various make and types of heavy duty equipment , utilities, plants/vehicles in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance/recommendation and safe operating procedures to ensure optimum utilization and availability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanics and technicians in carrying out repair and maintenance of HEMV and LMV as per OEM manual and as per the instructions of section engineer.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and cleanliness of the equipment and workplace.
  • Ensure Safety of the workmen and equipment.
  • Assist mechanics and technicians in record keeping of breakdown and maintenance activities.
  • Compliance with EMS/OHSAS/QMS requirements as directed.
  • Responsible for ensuring that plant heavy equipment are in safe operating condition by conducting routine maintenance and scheduling needed repairs.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

  • Trade test-1, 2 & 3 in mechanical fitting/mechanical equipment maintenance + minimum 8 years related job experience
  • OND in Mechanical Engineering with + 5 years related job experience

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of plant heavy equipment.

Job Description

  • We are looking for an experienced driller for our cement operations at Okpella Plant.
  • Must be able to operate DTH Drill in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant procedures.
  • To Perform daily safety and maintenance checks of drill rigs
  • Accurately mark out drilling pattern on the bench for blast/short holes drilling.
  • Depth of every blast hole must include sub-drill.
  • Ensure verticality of drilled holes, inclined or snake holes, then prescribed angle of inclination must be maintained.
  • Ensured that each drilled hole is safely covered to prevent inflow of run-off water and pebbles.
  • Use only approved drill bits for achievement of desired hole diameter.
  • Inform the Snr. Mining Engineer in charge, drilling and blasting of every completed drilling .round/pattern
  • Report faults and breakdown to the Snr. Mining Engineer in charge, drilling and blasting.
  • Keep the drill rigs clean at all time by blowing and regular washing.
  • Ensure safe drilling that is, safety of self and machine.
  • Attend the daily Tool Box Talk at the resumption of shift operation.
  • Ensure necessary PPEs are used on regular basis.
  • Responsible to Snr. Mining Engineer in charge, drilling and blasting.
  • Other jobs as may be assigned.
  • Ability to operate DTH Drill in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant procedures.

Requirements

  • WASC + 16 years experience.
  • Trade Test II + 24 years experience.
  • Trade I + 16 years experience.
  • OND + 5 years experience.

  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other).
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar).
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc).
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
  • Creativity and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
