Job Title: Solar Project Engineer

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • Sunhive seeks to employ a Solar Project Engineer. The Project engineer will operate at a supervisory level acting as a nerve centre, coordinating with various teams – both internal and external.
  • He/She is also responsible for transforming good electrical and civil design on paper into hassle-free solar installations delivered in a timely fashion.

Job Description
Depending on the specific corporate needs, your job will involve some or all of the following:

  • Responsible for operational level understanding of the requirement of the client/customer, site visits, site feasibility & solar systems design and complete execution.
  • Conduct engineering site surveys and audits to collect structural, electrical, and related site information for use in the design of solar power systems. Able to check site feasibility and provide the best suitable option for enhancing suitability.
  • Create electrical single-line diagrams, panel schedules, or connection diagrams for solar electric systems, using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Designing of arrangements of the solar panels for rooftop & ground mounted & other various supported electrical equipment & selection of cables for plant including layouts & schematic diagrams and calculation of technical Sizing, BOQ/BOM.
  • Management of end to end execution of solar projects (Rooftop & Ground Mounted) Provide technical direction or support to installation teams during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning, or performance monitoring.
  • Perform computer simulation of solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system performance or energy production to optimize efficiency. Having knowledge of PV SYST or similar software and should have good knowledge for conducting all essential tests required for solar system commissioning and the delivery of high-performance ratios.
  • Document management. Maintaining proposal templates and databases of (Materials and equipment costs) to enable rapid proposals and quotations.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and quality or safety standards for solar installation work. Create checklists for review or inspection of completed solar installation projects.
  • Writing, reviewing and approving site reports and project proposals.

Useful Qualifications and Experience

  • Evidence of strong project management skills (including use of  MS Projects).
  • Engineering software skills (Homer, PVSyst, SketchUp, Autocad, Sunnydesign etc).
  • An Electrical Engineering degree will be an added advantage.
