JOB OVERVIEW
FixPolitics is a citizens-led movement to structurally change and innovate politics in Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.

This is a full-time role based in the Student Liaison Office at the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG). The post holder will oversee all student relation activities. The primary objective of the role is to interface with and manage the interests of students in alignment with the SPPG’s corporate value, program and policy framework.

The Student Liaison Office Team Lead manages and guides students across all programs to ensure supervised access to program lectures, notes/presentations, recordings and additional resource material. In addition to student resource management, the team lead is the primary line of communication between the management of SPPG and the broad student body. The incumbent may be required to work weekends or extra hours during peak season or busy periods.

JOB PURPOSE

Actively supervise and guide the activities of the diverse student body at the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG) towards achieving defined corporate strategic objectives.
Supervise the distribution and engagement of all student resource(s) across all program offerings.
Act as the primary point of contact for all student related affairs coming from internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure strategic objectives and value of the SPPG is effectively communicated to students – it is the premier school of politics and governance aimed at training and developing leaders with the following SPPG values: Accountability, Tolerance and Respect, Stewardship and Responsibility, Social Justice and Inclusiveness, and Ethical Leadership (a moral compass based on integrity, honesty and respect for the rule of law).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AREAS

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and continuously improve the quality of all student onboarding materials such as Student Hand Books and Learning Guides.
Steering the activities of the Student Liaison Office and guiding the strategic direction of the incumbent student relation framework in line with SPPG corporate objectives by continually interfacing with students to solicit feedback on program experience for improvement of business intelligence and value offering.
Set up and manage the Student Alumni Office by developing and implementing a series of union development best practices aimed at optimising the depth, adoption and engagement of the alumni body.

Operational Management:

Review all documents uploaded to Hybrid Learning Environment (HLE) for students.
Prepare and update student topic outlines and assessments with detailed checklist of reading and citations.
Prepare assessment for student peer-to-peer evaluation, whether individual or group work, and disseminate.
Upload student topic outline and assessment on task management software for internal team and interdepartmental access and reference.
Collect and consolidate all non-academic reports and assessments due from students.
Create and supervise a robust student attendance management framework.
Academic Advisory and Database Management:
Act as an academic advisor to students ensuring effective communication on course performance.
Support in maintaining the accuracy and completeness of student databases for internal and external compliance purposes.
Create and evaluate reports from student group leaders on peer-to-peer assessment on a monthly basis.

Task Planning and Management:
Oversee student onboarding procedures by managing the Student Acculturation Month; first month of school dedicated to preparing students for the work ahead. Tasks include scheduling and supervising the acculturation program by:
Event program agenda development.
Inviting and scheduling guest speakers and moderators.
Set up lecture notes and assessment for students.
Send appreciation notes at the end of each lesson.
Schedule and plan all communications around school breaks and celebrations.
Plan and execute the student graduation program; prepare and communicate all resources and briefing to the graduating class at the end of the school year.

Compliance:

Exemplify good governance by ensuring departmental adherence to internal policies.
In-conjunction with the Admissions Department, recommend internal policy reforms where needed, by concisely referencing relevant student feedback and consequential outcomes to management.

Reporting:
Oversee the development of key departmental reports such as:
Weekly student attendance reports.
Student peer to peer evaluation report
Student alumni progress report
Student Survey Report.
Track Faculty assigned Group Work and Evaluation for students

REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Practical knowledge in corporate communication and relationship management.
Practical knowledge of conflict resolution.
Working knowledge of learning management systems and database management.
Strong administrative skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.
Professional writing skills including development of documentation on performance reports.
Strong command of the English Language.

EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, MBA or other related areas is an advantage.
Relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years local or international work experience in the education and/or learning and development sector.
Administration or counselling experience in the Nigerian tertiary educational/learning development space.
Management of people including cross-cultural teams.
Managing conflict.
