Job Title: Logistics & Fleet Manager

Job Summary

  • The fleet Manager will be responsible in conjunction with the HR Department for the recruitment of quality divers into the fleet, purchasing, storage of parts, maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection and scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency among other duties.

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing and maintaining vehicles.
  • Deciding whether to lease or buy vehicles.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet
  • Developing efficient driver schedules to maximize profits
  • Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules.
  • Registering and licensing all vehicles under their management
  • Finding ways to cut costs and maximize profits.
  • Developing strategies for greater fuel efficiency.
  • Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
  • Complying with Nigerian Transport laws and regulations
  • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensuing strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  • Monitoring divers’ behaviour and ensuring a high level of discipline and excellent customer service.
  • Analysing data to increase business operational efficiency.
  • Utilizing GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft.

Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:

Planning and Implementation:

  • Create policies or procedures for logistics activities.
  • Plan and implement improvements to internal and external logistics systems or processes.
  • Communicate the existing logistics process and policy to all employees on a regular basis to ensure sufficient understanding of the process
  • Implement health and safety standards during work process.

Maintenance:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all vehicles in the organisations fleet are duly and adequately licensed at all times.
  • Oversee the maintenance of vehicle service and inspection records to ensure compliance with the manufacturer’s servicing schedules and maintenance requirements.
  • Identify reliable, effective and efficient service centers to deliver maximum value for the organisation.
  • Plan and organize the maintenance of all company vehicles, ensuring that service and inspection intervals for all vehicles and machinery are adhered to.

Financial Duties:

  • Process purchase requisitions for parts and supplies, review vendor bid responses for tools, equipment, parts and services in conjunction with the procurement Manager.
  • Review financial/budget reports and prepare yearly operating budget
  • Prepare annual bid list for parts and supplies.

People Management:

  • Responsible for monitoring certain aspects of the driver’s behaviour such as speeding, excessive braking and erratic driving.

The Person

  • Minimum academic qualification of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc) in Business Administration, Logistics, Transport or Engineering, Project Management Economics or any related Business Degree.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience preferably in the Estate and Property sector or Logistics Companies.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies such as The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft office package is required especially with spreadsheet software (Excel).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication (oral and written), business presentation and people management skills.
  • Must be a man of integrity and unquestionable character with proven track record of ethical and moral values, transparency and honesty.
