We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunication Engineering Laboratory Technologist

Location: Yola, Adamawa
Department: Engineering

Summary of Position

  • The Laboratory Technologist works to ensure the efficient running of the Electrical, Computer, and Telecommunication Engineering Laboratories to meet the teaching and learning goals of the School of Engineering.
  • S/he will work under the supervision of the faculty and will collaborate with them to ensure that Laboratory courses are effectively taught.
  • S/he will physically manage the lab and ensure the security of the equipment and supplies.

Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean and fully-functional Labs independently with minimal supervision
  • Responsible for preparing the Lab manuals and shall guide the students to carry out their lab tasks safely and successfully. S/he shall ensure that all the safety rules are adhered to by the students
  • Responsible for the proper inventory of all the facilities in the Lab and ensuring that materials and laboratory equipment are available for faculty and student use.
  • Assist students in setting up experiments, involving electronics components, breadboards, power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital analyzer, and signal generator.
  • Guide the students on the use of soldering iron, PCB etching equipment
  • Calibrate lab equipment, install necessary software (such as AutoCAD, Matlab, Electronics Workbench).

Position Requirements

  • B.Sc / B.Eng or HND in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Telecommunication Engineering with sound hands-on practical experience.
  • Good working knowledge of laboratory equipment including, but not limited to, signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital analyzers and network analyzers
  • Good working knowledge of Matlab, Autocad, C/C++, OR and Python Programming
  • Basic computer repairs and maintenance skills
  • Practical experience in handling and programming microcontrollers
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic circuit simulators like Electronics Workbench,
  • Good working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronics circuits
  • Good working knowledge of networking using Cisco equipment or Mikrotik
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged information.

Other Desirable Conditions:

  • Experience working in a university setting with faculty, students, and staff.
