The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Agency for International Cooperation) is an international enterprise owned by the German Federal government, operating in many fields across more than 130 countries.

In Nigeria, GIZ’s portfolio includes among others, a programme to support the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in its regional integration goals. The programme aims to strengthen sector-specific capacities in the areas of Peace and Security, Customs and Trade as weir as Strategic Management and Organizational Development in the ECOWAS Commission.

  • GIZ has worked in Nigeria since 1974. From 2004, GIZ has maintained a country office in the capital city Abuja. Currently 361 national and 66 international employees, 19 regional staff, 4 integrated specialists and 3 development workers are working in the country (June 2020).

The Program

  • The Digital Transformation Center in Nigeria is a new project of the GIZ that aims to contribute to the improvement of the capacity of the Nigerian economy to implement digital innovations for growth, through supporting the digital transformation of the economy and society.
  • To achieve this the project will work closely with Nigerian actors in the innovation ecosystem such as: National Information and Technology Development Agency, research institutions,
  • innovation hubs, hub networks, start-ups, MSMEs, women.
  • The activities will focus mainly on capacity building through promoting policy development and implementation and networking among digital ecosystem actors and providing coaching and training, advisory services, equipment and kick-start funding.

Responsibilities

  • The Hospitality Manager is responsible for:
  • Keeping the Office Premises Clean and Tidy
  • Running Errands and Carrying Out Other Tasks Needed to Run the Office Smoothly
  • Reports to The Head of Unit or the Administration Officer

Office Services:

  • Cleans the office premises, rooms, furniture, windows and blinds,
  • Checks and refills supplies in all areas, including office supplies and articles in the washrooms and WCs,
  • Supplies the offices with hot and cold beverages and other catering services
  • Setting up and preparing the conference rooms as instructed,
  • Providing services at meetings, e.g. serves coffee and tea for guests and visitors
  • Washing dishes and relocate tableware,
  • Reporting if stocks, e.g. of beverages and cleaning agents, are low, and need to be refilled,
  • Responsible for opening the office on time every morning and for ensuring it is locked in the evening.

Supports Office Communications and Administration:

  • Supports office or project logistics, e.g. takes letters to the post office or hands them to courier services,
  • Makes photocopies and scans documents as needed,
  • Checks office supplies and restocks office materials, e.g. ensuring that photocopiers are operational by filling with paper, toner cartridges, etc.

General Tasks:

  • Runs errands, e.g. buys lunch on request for office staff if and when required,
  • Reports damage to office areas and equipment,
  • Carries out any other ad hoc task given to him/her by the Team Leader or his Administrative Officer.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Education

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in comparable position.

Other Knowledge, Additional Competences:

  • Good knowledge of English.
  • Sensitivity and confidentiality in handling and disposing of documents which may be important.
  • Reliability and good organizational skills, appropriate appearance.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A good team player who is willing to take on responsibility.
  • Innovative and possessing a positive attitude to change.

Salary
According to GIZ salary scale for Band 1
