Chief Finance Officer in a New Tier 1 Urban Microfinance Bank

We are a newly Central Bank of Nigeria Licensed Tier 1 Urban Microfinance bank located at the Igbon-Efo, Lekki corridor of Lagos State. We are desirous of recruiting young, talented and ambitious self starters who would lead the bank towards achieving the mutual desired goals of all stakeholders in the position below:

Job Description

  • The Chief financial officer (CFO) would be responsible for managing the financial actions of the company.
  • The CFO’s duties include tracking cash flow and financial planning as well as analyzing the company’s financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions.
  • He/She would be responsible for managing the finance, accounting and operation divisions and for ensuring that the company’s financial reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.


  • Supervision of the overall finance architecture.
  • Timely production & Interpretation of Financial Reports
  • Financial strategy and direction guidance.
  • Stakeholder report package generation and interaction.
  • Fundraising assistance.
  • Overseeing the reconciliation of income and expense reports
  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements and profit and loss reports
  • Provide leadership and management to the financial department
  • Provide financial strategy recommendations to CEO/President and executive team
  • Identify and address potential financial risks for the company
  • Oversee all financial decisions, such as budgeting and auditing
  • Implement strategies and systems to improve financial performance
  • Support financial department in developing short and long term financial goals
  • Review financial reports and determine methods to reduce costs
  • Take control of financial records and documentation
  • Serve as a key point of contact for financial department and auditors

Qualifications and Experience

  • First Degree or its equivalent, preferably in a numeric discipline e.g. Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or in a related field.
  • A post-graduate degree or its equivalent in any discipline. An MBA or any other related professional qualification is required.
  • Relevant professional qualifications/affiliations such as ICAN, CIBN, CFA, ACIB etc.
  • A minimum of 8 years diverse banking experience (i.e. banking, insurance, microfinance, etc.) as well as experience in multi-functional roles within the industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience within the financial services industry.
  • Prior microfinance experience is desirable, particularly within a microfinance bank with international ties.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Microfinance Certification
  • Must not be more than 32 years as at January 1st 2022

Competency/ Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Nigerian financial services market.
  • Good product development and portfolio management capabilities.
  • Excellent customer relationship development/management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial financial products.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically and to appreciate the systemic impact of various policies, issues and solutions.
  • Must have a high sense of responsibility, accountability, integrity and ethical standards.
  • Must have strong business acumen, maturity and tact, including the ability to relate with highest levels of management of financial institutions.
