MRG People Partners – Our client, SEND is a digital freight forwarder and customs broker for Africa. They manage the entire process of shipping cargo by air and ocean, including customs clearance and trade finance. Think about them as a door-to-door import and export service.

Their platform provides instant quotes, document management, cost transparency, and cargo visibility. They are on a mission to make trade easier in Africa and are funded by Y Combinator, Ventures Platform, Ingressive Capital, and others.

Description

Responsibilities

  • People operations: Own all people operations processes including performance review cycles; compensation reviews and planning; Employee handbook and policies; benefits administration; legal and regulatory compliance as it relates to employment, etc., and as we scale ensure that we evolve our processes appropriately.
  • Onboarding: Develop and execute onboarding strategies to ensure new hires are able to hit the ground running from day one.
  • Employee development and retention: develop and execute all learning and development initiatives and help drive a high-performance, high-growth mindset that focuses on career development and growth.
  • Recruiting and talent acquisition: Run our recruiting and talent acquisition activities including defining and implementing strategies to attract, hire, and retain top talent across the company with a focus on building a diverse and inclusive team. Work with external recruiters to hire across Africa and the world.
  • Cultural champion: Be a champion of our culture, helping the team understand and live our core values through effective programs that promote morale while achieving our company goals.
  • Employee Branding: Make us a reputable place to work, so our people are motivated to project our image which in turn enables us to hire the smartest people.

Requirements

  • B.Sc, M.Sc, MBA, or relevant degree.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in people operations across the full range of human resources functions.
  • Experience in designing compensation, training, and benefits programs.
  • Proficient in relevant technology tools like ATS platform, Google spreadsheet, etc. Experience using Lever, BambooHr, etc a plus
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian labor laws.
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills.
  • Prior experience at a rapidly scaling tech startup is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic – You are self-driven and have a willingness to do what it takes to deliver results.
