Deputy Head of Program (DHoP) at Centre for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN)

Centre for Community Development and Research Network (CCDRN) is a registered national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with its head office in Kaduna. CCDRN partners with communities, philanthropists, government, and donors to provide sustainable community development services in the areas of research, conflict resolution, peace-building, economic empowerment, agriculture, health, Nutrition, education as well as governance.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Deputy Head of Program (DHoP)

Location: Kaduna with frequent visits to project locations.

Key Role

  • The Deputy Head of Programs (DHoP) will be responsible for coordinating CCDRN activities implementation across Northern Nigeria.
  • The incumbent will work closely with the MEAL and Research units to gathers analyze and process complex information related to all aspects of program activity implementation.
  • S / he will ensure all programs delivered meets the appropriate scale, scope, quality, and accountability expected of CCDRN. This position will be based at the head office, located in Kaduna, with projects activities expected to be carried out in the Northern states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively support team coaching, strategic development plans, and strengthen state teams.
  • Complement the HOP in providing strategic direction for the design of program strategic frameworks and plans.
  • Contribute to high-quality project design incorporating project management standards and appropriate to scope, context, and technical requirements of projects.
  • Support planning of activities for particular projects to ensure integration of program interventions and efficiency in implementation.
  • Help identify training opportunities, develop training curriculums and deliver training.
  • Follow-up with team members to ensure timely and quality reporting on all projects.
  • Conduct weekly review on the update of the projects database, providing reports.
  • Support perform monthly project reviews and quality assessment, in line with donor requirements sharing reports with the HOP.
  • Promote accountability, learning, and knowledge management.
  • Coordinate with all program staff to ensure appropriate project budgeting, efficient use and stewardship of project material sources, and management of risk within projects.
  • Contribute and lead business development cycle, as needed, to ensure quality proposals and agency and donor reports and updates per set standards.
  • Coordinate technical assistance and capacity strengthening for project teams in project management standards. Help identify training opportunities, develop training curriculums and deliver training.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits as directed/required to project locations.

Key Working Relationships

  • Internal: Executive Director, Head of Program; Head of Operations; State Program Managers and Head of Offices; MEAL Specialist; project teams; Procurement and Finance staff; Communications and Advocacy Advisor, Nutrition Advisor, Education Advisor, and Research & Knowledge Management unit.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in International Development, International Relations, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience in program management and/or technical advisor position with progressive responsibilities for an NGO.
  • Good experience in project grants management, including project design, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc., preferably for projects funded by multiple public donors.
  • Experience in managing diverse sector projects- Education, livelihood, nutrition, food security, agriculture, Peace-building, protection, etc.

  • Strong strategic, analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to see the big picture and the ability to make sound judgments and decisions.
  • Strong team building and management skills.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels internally and externally.
  • Presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented and results-oriented
  • Fluency in Hausa
