We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Head of Accounting
Location: Lagos
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage a team
- Inform the team of the entity strategy/ evolutions and communicate on required alignments Set goals in terms of quality of service & costs control
- Assess the performance of the team
- Develop & maintain the competencies
- Ensure a smooth transfer of files/issues when change arises in the team
- Setup an induction program for newcomers in collaboration with HR
- Apply to leave management policy
- Organize recruitments (after validation by the FD) in collaboration with the HR department and interview/select potential staff.
- Build & adapt process & organizations
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures (8 companies)
- Inform his/her management of any information relevant regarding our business activity or environment
- Identify issues raised during operations processing whatever in his scope
- In charge of accounts
- General ledger Supplier Ledger Stock ledger Fixed asset ledger Payroll
- Month year-end process
- In charge of Treasury
- Ensure cash flow for ongoing operations
- Liaise with banks
- In charge of Tax
- Coordinates the overall responsibility for Tax functions
- Follows up with the company compliance of the procedures of remitting and obtaining clearance for all statutory deductions
- In charge of disbursements
- Leads monthly disbursement committees.
- In charge of Insurance
- Processes and oversees all assigned insurance claims within the Group with every department
- Monitoring of the entities Business software
- Check SPOT/IRIS, integration integrity Check ALFA /IRIS, integration integrity Check IPAKI /IRIS, integration integrity
- Check Maximo /Iris, integration integrity
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Periodically reviewing the SOP and working practices and seeking means of improvement “Thinking out of the box”; looking for new ways to address old problems
KPI:
- Closing J+1
- Bank reconciliation J+7
- Suppliers paid on due time
- Manual cash cleared weekly
- General ledger accounts reconciled and matched on max 30 days Integration of invoice in maximum 48Hours
- 100% Deduction of WHT on Suppliers Integrity of VAT declared.
Tools:
- Business software functions (Monarch Awiris QlikView, SPOT, ALFA, IRIS) & reports
- Acting figures to be confirmed 1,5 MMGN.
Qualifications / Required Skills
- Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 10 years in the accounting department
- At least 5 years experience as a manager
- ACA or equivalent
- Very Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good use of the email
- Excellent communicator.
