Job Profile

  • The Legal / Contract Officer will be a critical part of the Legal / Contract and Compliance Department of SFH.
  • S/He will draft and vet agreements across SFH Nigeria and its Platforms in line with donor, legal, regulatory, and other contractual requirements.
  • S/He will ensure that procurement contracts are properly drafted to ensure value for money and in compliance with all requirements.
  • S/He will provide contract management services to SFH Management and the Board.
  • S/He will provide legal advice and opinion on any matter required by SFH.
  • S/He will participate in the corporate and secretarial function of SFH which includes preparation for Board Meetings, taking of minutes and filings at the Corporate Affairs Commission.
  • S/He will assist the Head of Legal / Contract and Compliance Department to ensure SFH Intellectual Property (IP) are filed and protected.
  • S/He will assist in the registration of new platforms/entities and IPs to be filed and provide any other business support.
  • S/He will assist in contractual and regulatory compliance to ensure that SFH adheres to all its contractual and legal obligations.

Job Role
The successful candidate will perform the following functions:

  • Legal drafting of documents such as contracts, bids leases, subawards, and various litigation support documents in a concise and clear manner using appropriate legal terms.
  • Stakeholder/Third Party Management – systematically and efficiently manage contract creation and execution for the purpose of maximising business, financial and operational performance
  • Company secretarial – prepare board documents and memoranda, take minutes, file necessary documents of the Corporate Affairs Commission, advise on governance and related statutory compliance needs.
  • Legal research – conduct research using online and other resource, know where to find the Law and apply same to everyday and critical issues.
  • Litigation management for some aspect of issues that arise from matters in Court.
  • Compliance – work with other Departments to assist with SFH compliance obligations: contractual and regulatory.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Must possess the LLB and B.L Degrees
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility working with and advising different Clients including Corporate entities, Government and Regulatory Agencies and individuals.
