Job Title: Biomedical Equipment Technician

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full Time

Job Description

  • Carry out repairs and planned preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment in conjunction with the Quality Assurance unit and other units involved with medical equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled equipment and apparatus calibrations.
  • Liaise with third party supply & service companies on equipment support services.
  • Write service and installation reports.
  • Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot medical equipment.
  • Calibrate,  set up, adjust, troubleshoot, sanitize, sterilize, maintain and properly clean medical equipment using appropriate cleaning solutions and technologies
  • Follow company rules and regulations regarding researcher and patient safety
  • Troubleshoot problems arising in designing and developing of medical devices and surgical instruments.
  • Analyze and evaluate the company’s prototype medical devices.
  • Ability to create and manage medical information systems and healthcare delivery systems effectively.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest developments in the field of Biomedical Engineering nationally and globally.
  • Installing and maintaining equipment to use in a medical setting
  • Providing technical support for biomedical equipment
  • Assessing the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of biomedical equipment
  • Performing routine maintenance checks on biomedical equipment through testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting.
  • Installing new biomedical equipment and adjusting the device according to medical specifications.
  • Training staff members to operate and care for equipment with physical demonstrations and educational presentations.
  • Updating the inventory, placing orders, and verifying deliveries.
  • Repairing faulty machinery on a routine basis and tending to emergency repairs as needed.
  • Keeping a digital record of equipment repairs, faulty components, and recalibrated devices.
  • Ensuring that all equipment meets company standards of safety and quality, and is in compliance with relevant laws.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance inspections and performance assurance inspections on equipment to ensure safe and effective operating conditions
  • Test and calibrate components using a variety of manuals, troubleshooting techniques, and code requirements
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies
  • Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and accurate
  • Repair and replace complex biomedical equipment and systems
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions with accuracy and precision.

Job Requirements

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and protocol
  • A minimum of 2 year’s experience as a biomedical technician.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the structure and uses of biomedical equipment.
  • Solid technical skills and the ability to repair machinery with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex information in layman’s terms.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Proficient dexterity and hand-eye coordination, as well as physical stamina to lift heavy equipment.
